Will the Hyperspace exclusive comics and short stories become available to everyone? Or will they disappear?
Obviously, I'm not in the know, but based on marketing, I'm fairly certain they'll become available to everyone. The article says, "And exclusive online content will continue to remain exclusive to subscribers through to the end of 2011." That sounds to me like they're saying articles will lose their exclusivity with the end of 2011, not that they'll go away. Otherwise, they'd market this as, "This is your last chance to view Hyperspace Exclusive content before it disappears at the end of 2011! Act now!"

But again, that's just speculation on my part.

Sue,
I just got my paperback copy of Outcast. I noticed the timeline still has 501st listed during the Clone Wars rather than after RotS. :(

Edit: I just saw the announcement that Hyperspace membership will not continue after this year. For any VIP who knows, what will be the fate of the Hyperspace area? Will the Hyperspace exclusive comics and short stories become available to everyone? Or will they disappear?

No, ace. It does not mean that they have pictures of him already.

It means that they can easily hire a model to create new pictures of him, just as they did for Vestara on Omen and her dad on Allies.

Sad news about Saba. Though I hope she will still be in the novel.

So... the back cover character on VORTEX is now the stately Kenth Hamner.

Sue, does that mean you have an image of Kenth Hamner? I didnt think there were any pictures of him.

Thanks for the update. Sucks to hear that Saba won't be on the back cover but I don't mind seeing Kenth Hamner.

I definitely can't wait to see Tahiri on the front cover.

Thanks Sue-
Can't wait to see Tahiri. Sad though about poor Saba. Have you guys started work on the titles for 8 or 9 yet?
Thanks.

Just here for a moment for an update --

Remember I had said that Saba would be on the back cover of Fate of the Jedi: VORTEX? Well, it didn't work out. The cover images are posterized from photos, and there aren't any photos of Saba. The artist and designers at Random House tried for over a month to create a Barabel that would work with the style of the covers, with no success.

So... the back cover character on VORTEX is now the stately Kenth Hamner.

We should have a finished cover for CONVICTION to post in about a month. Tahiri will be on the front cover -- don't know yet who's on the back.

Sue,
TCW webcomic artist Tom Hodges recently announced that Season 1's webcomics would get a limited release as a trade paperback (TPB) at Celebration V but I was wondering if you know if Season 2's story, Act on Instinct, would also receive a TPB release in the near future?

As a contiguous story Act on Instinct is now almost 80 pages long, long enough for a collated collection as a digest sized graphic novella (ala Dark Horse's Star Wars Adventures series and recent The Clone Wars TPBs) rather than a normal size TPB.

IMO such a digest sized graphic novella, with its single story, would appeal to more people, including TCW's #1 demograph, and would sell better than a TPB of Season 1's collection of short stories that only tie-in directly to individual tv episodes and appeals really to the fanboy collectors, of course I include myself in that description :)

They may not all be as silly and wannabe comedic relief as Jar Jar, but they do all talk the same, right? I can't stand that "mesa go ovah here" nonsense. The most retarded and annoying fictional slang ever invented. It may even be more annoying for me to read than actually hear, because then it's inside my head....

God save us from the Gungans...

Besides, I'm guessing your fear is that there'd be another Jar Jar. They can't all be like him, can they?

Jar Jar's not representative. Even his own son, Abso Bar, kicked serious stormtrooper behind. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing Abso Bar showing up again.

Hmmm... though it would be interesting to see Luke
find out more about his mother, any story on Naboo
runs the risk of including Gungans in it...and I
believe that no sane man or woman wants that....

If it could safely be done without Gungans, then
sure, it would be a cool story.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing the Gungans. Especially how the Naboo interract with them (remember there's was a fair amount of prejudice and mistrust between them). Besides, I'm guessing your fear is that there'd be another Jar Jar. They can't all be like him, can they?

Sue, question, is there anything planned or any possibility of a series like the Young Jedi Knights, some time in the future?

Reason I ask is it's getting close to the right time that we need a new set of supporting or main characters now that Jaina is older and Ben is getting older as well. We have no real set characters to fill out the supporting role either for Ben or anyone of his age or younger. Think back to Lowie and Tenal Ka. I felt the YJK series helped in establishing characters for use in bigger book series (minus Lowie as we don't see him much).

Also one more question if I may, is there any chance of Lowbacca having more book time in any planned or current SW Books-to-released?

I also notice that the Backlash Mass Market got moved up to January. Are there any other date changes you can think of off the top of your head?

*Did it get to keep that as it's title, or was the decision to change it so late that word hasn't gotten down to the people who keep the catalog up to date? *

It must be that the decision to change it wasn't picked up by their catalog people. These catalog/amazon.com postings are done pretty automatically once a title is entered into the Random House system.

Sue -
I see "Black Orchid" is being listed by Random House now.

*Is there any chance in the future for a book which
would include Luke and Ben adventures on Naboo ? In
which they could meet some people of Naberrie
familly ( some of theme could be in Ben`s age) and
in which Luke could visit his mother grave ? It
t would be a fantstic book. Is there o chance for
such book ??*

These events would have to happen as part of a larger story, and there's nothing planned at this time.

*Sue, could you ask the non-fiction editor about the status of the Star Wars: Frames book, which has been delayed and delayed (and IMHO, this ridiculously-overpriced book may be cancelled forever). But anyway, I really would like to know if it is still a go... *

Yes, it's still happening. We just received our first sample with the box -- wow. it's beautiful. The books are stunning -- the frames themselves are absolutely beautiful. The box is impressive, to say the least. It's taking a lot of time because it's so important that each frame looks perfect --

I have a question combining ideas about fan submissions and short story anthologies.

A few years back, Star Trek used to have a series called Strange New Worlds, which were anthologies of short stories by various authors. There were 10 such books, written annually between 1998 and 2007. They included submissions from ST and non-ST authors. But one of the key elements was a fan submission contest, in which the top three stories were included in the story.

Would something like that be feasible for SW? If there were a new short story collection, have a contest, whereas the favorite story got published in the anthology?

You could get around certain IP rules that prevent fan submission by taking a few precautions. The judges would not work for LFL. The judged-favorite selection would then be vetted by both Ms. Rostoni and Mr. Chee, who have discretionary power in case there are glaring errors or in case it goes against future LFL plans.

Just a theory.
