how are we supposed to read retconns like the revised length of the Ex - as absolute truths and matters of dogma; or as "best guess" conclusions based on the interpretation of evidence?
I'm not sure I understand the question. There's a size field for the Executor entry in the Holocron. That field now say s ~19 km long. It used to say 12 km and before that 8 km. In the Continuity Notes field of the Holocron, it lists some (though not all) sources where the different lengths were stated. There are some notes as to the entire discussion. The next time someone wishes to print a length for the ship, we look at the size field and say, the size is ~19 km long. Could this change yet again? It's unlikely, though never impossible.

Taking a cue from the films, things in the EU can always change.

Unknown, I know he's never posted frequently to begin with.*
Actually, Jason chimes in from time to time in the Galaxy's Map thread.

Google is truly amazing.

Tasty Taste: out of interest, how are we supposed to read retconns like the revised length of the Ex - as absolute truths and matters of dogma; or as "best guess" conclusions based on the interpretation of evidence?
Personally, I'm happy with an eleven-mile Ex, but I have friends who have a certain nostalgia for the old WEG "five-mile" design, and I've been arguing the wider issue with Talas or people like him in another place these past few days...
And on top of that, I'm a postgrad historian in rl - these sorts of thought processes are part of what I'm interested in professionally...
Thanks,

Why do the Clone Wars timelines on the inside covers name the source of the event "Attack on Azure" as being from Jedi Quest: Special Edition when we already know that it's called Secrets of the Jedi. Though I highly doubt it, is this actually a second book coming out in March of '05?

I believe he was beginning his next novel about then, and likely has no spare time to frequent the boards as much as he used to until it's completed. But, hopefully we'll see him again after he's done!

*Earlier you stated that the Executor's dimensions were corrected in the
"Inside The Worlds of the Star Wars Trilogy" to agree with the size shown in the movies (which are the highest canon). When will the other spinoff literature and the Official
Site Databank show the ITW correction? *
Speaking of Inside the Worlds of the Star Wars Trilogy, why were Jabba's Palace and the Pit of Carkoon moved to the Northern Dune Sea?
And with the slight shift in the Tatooine map, where did Fort Tusken go (I know it's not around anymore - but it used to be on the maps)?

I'm gone for how long, and not one mention of the star destoryer length issue, but I get back and BAM! And it's not even that these people want a definite size, I'm ok with wanting details, but asking again and again and again... where's our JTS-type to point them to a thread like every time an era question gets asked?
ok, sorry. venting...
Thank you for answering my lead in question.

Tasty Taste
I don't know when/if the databank will be updated; that's up to the Online group. Databank entries usually don't get dynamically updated every time new information comes out.
So I've noticed!
As for other spinoff literature, there was something from Spain that I saw that has the updated size - it even included a size chart, but I haven't come across anything else. Moving forward, we use the new length, which is roughly 19 km long.
Very good to hear. The EU is excellent. So long as its subordinate to the movies.
I am not a part of, nor am I aware of any active conspiracy to hold fast to the old lengths.
Understand completely. You've been very honest and consistent. However, the smarmy replies from others toward fans that like consistency with the films and EU have left a bitter taste.

How about the online comic Reversal of Fortune. Thus far, it would seem that also leads directly into Episode III as well...

So, out of the lead-ins (LoE, CW Season 3, and Obsession) which would you say ends the closest to RotS?
Labyrinth of Evil and the 2005 Clone Wars mini-series both end at the start of Revenge of the Sith.
