I'm guessing that some of the VIPs will be at Celebration III, but will it be in any official capacity? I mean, will fans (Hyperspace members or in general) have the ability to talk to VIPs in a manner other than hassling someone who is just trying to have fun at a 'con... ?

Looking at the C2 scheduling, I think it's safe to assume there will be some sort of publishing / EU panel at C3.

*> Sue,

What can you tell us about the August 2005 Michael
Reaves novel?

Not much. It'll have some familiar characters from Michael's other SW novels.*

I've not heard anything about this book before. When was it announced?

I'm hoping this is the right place to post this - I've been looking all over, and have not found this topic existing previously - it seems like it might belong in Community rather than BCaT, but it's a question especially for the BCaT VIPs:

* I think Darth Talas meant to ask if the
Revenge of the Sith: Visual Dictionary would
give us an inside look at Darth Vader's breath mask
and cybernetic suit.*

Nope, not that one either. Sorry --

* Hi, there VIPs, I was a little confused as to what
was going to be next in the NEW essential guides. I
have heard that it was going to be the New essential
chronogy in 2005 in one place and in other places
that the New Essential chronolgy will be out in 2006
and that something different will be out in 2005. Is
it posible for you to say which it is? I understand
of course if this cannot be disclosed yet.*

My calendar has the New Essential Chronology coming out in October 05 and some untitled things in 06.

Do you know yet if the upcoming +ROTS:Incredible
Cross Sections+ will have a detailed schematic of
Darth Vader's breath mask and suit?*

Nope, that book covers vehicles.

Secrets of the Jedi IS the same as Legacy of the Jedi #2, and also the same as Jedi Quest: Special Edition, because Legacy of the Jedi was also originally a Jedi Quest: Special Edition itself.

Though it seems as if there's still some confusion about if Secrets of the Jedi is also the same as Legacy of the Jedi #2 or not, since we know SOTJ is the same as JQ:SE.

Why do the Clone Wars timelines on the inside covers name the source of the event "Attack on Azure" as being from Jedi Quest: Special Edition when we already know that it's called Secrets of the Jedi. Though I highly doubt it, is this actually a second book coming out in March of '05?

I think its already been confirmed that these are the same thing. My guess would be that when the timelines went to print, the title hadn't been decided on, or had been recently enough that it was overlooked.

Tasty Taste: thanks! The nub of the question (sorry about being incomprehensible) is whether the new official statement as to the length of an SSD (or whatever the case may be) is to be regarded as (A) an absolute, incontrovertable truth, given weight by the official omnipotence of LFL, or (B) the informed opinion of professional experts, based on a balanced weighing-up of the available "evidence".

Going by what you're saying, the process seems closer to (B), but I don't want to ask leading questions. Well, not too many, at any rate... :p ]:)

EDIT: you edited when I was posting. Sounds like B, in practice (obviously enough), but I'm not sure if that's how fanboys are "supposed" to understand the official statements - put simply, are you acting as historians of a fictional past, or guardians of orthodoxy for the faithful...?

Thanks again!

these sorts of thought processes are part of what I'm interested in...

In a nut shell, I recall it going something like this:
A: The size is X
B: These sources say X, these other source say Y.
(group discusses)
A: We've agreed that Y seems to reflect more closely what we see in the film, so Y.
C: It's neither X, nor Y, it's actually Z. What's to be done?
A: Nothing, until someone writes about it.
(C finally gets in a position to write about it and submits draft)
A (to group): C is suggesting we use size Z.
(group discusses)
A: We've agreed that new size Z is more accurate to the film, so that's what we're going with.

Really, I assure, you there's nothing diabolical going on here. Rationale discussions take place, sometimes there's even heated debate, and then a decision made. And then, if that decision needs to be revisited for whatever reason, then it is revisted. The Executor discussion is a prime example of this process.
