Just finished this one.
This novel ranks as the worst on my list at this time.
I don't even know what to start complaining about.

That's what I felt made it a unique book: it used characters unused much and made them deeper and it also allowed us to get a better feel to the Galactic Civil War, as the game does. Like I said, it certainly isn't the greatest Expanded Universe novel ever written, but it is a nice read for EU fans.

I just finally found a copy and read this...and I wasn't that bad! Good twist in the end.... I was expecting so much worse...like a Bounty Hunter wars trilogy The characters are just nobodies...but that kinda makes it cool. Plus...you get a great EU zoology lesson!

What? This book is the book that made start Starwars Eu... It wasn't the best EU book ever written, but it has merit.

Honestly, not even close. IMO, the worst EU book aside from it is Children of the Jedi, and Crystal Star isn't far back. This one makes them both look like something you'd read doing Doctorate work in a Harvard literature studies program.

Wow. I'm just glad that I haven't bought it. Even if I do buy it I'll probably just put it on my shelf and never read it!

I played SWG from the start until about 2 1/2 years ago, loved it the whole time. Mistakenly bought this book thinking I'd love it, too.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Wrong. It's dry, it's droll, it's slow, it's lurchy, the characters never deserve the reader's attachment, the plot is, well, there almost is no plot, the imagery is near non-existent, and the locations - which could and should have been AMAZING based on the game - appeared boring and ordinary.

Ooh goody!
A chance to rant!
This is my least favourite Star Wars novel of all time (and I'm including Hambly's books, the Black Fleet Trilogy and 'The Crystal Star' in that!).
It's the inane story of the galaxy's most transparent spy and the galaxy's most simple woman.
In fact, when I say 'story' what I really mean is 'overblown press-kit for a computer game'.
It's no secret that Lucasfilm are big on merchandising, but this is the most shameless exploitation of fans I've ever encountered. It's very much like reading a series of lists of what can be found in the Galaxies game; of planets, of wildlife, of weapons, of alien species. I got the impression that 90% of the book was taken directly from the game's manual.
Now, usually cameos are great, but here so many cameos are crammed in (Lando, Luke, Leia, Han, Wedge, Nym etc) that you can almost hear the authors think "Quick, better cram in some credibility!". They fail.
And they cancelled a Clone Wars novel for this tosh!

And then came the biggest mistake of the book (ok slight medical rant here) Luke shows up to rescue her because of his bad feeling and he says that the anticoagulant that he uses to treat her isn't clotting her blood fast enough. That's because Anticoagulants don't clot blood they STOP it from clotting. I am just absolutely amazed that DelRey would let a mistake like that be published. Aren't authors supposed to know what they're writing about? Would a little research have been that hard to do?
It was cool to see Naboo though. I was about surprised though about the Alliance using Corellia as a base because I always inferred from what I've read in other books that it's this huge Imperial stronghold with the big bad Diktat in charge. Maybe this happens later though.
Overall, this book is joining my list of books to never read again.

Ok I was a little behind getting this book, but frankly, after reading it, I'm glad that I didn't just jump out and buy it. This book was horrid. I found myself going back and having to reread sentences because they didn't make sense. Dusque Mistflier is just one big pun of a name and the last name is so similar to Skywalker it seemed unoriginal. And there were WAY too many creatures/creature attacks in this book. There was this big fuss in the beginning of the book about finding the Holocron and less than half the book was actually about the Holocron. And Finn, well I don't really get him. Here he is, some supposed member of the Alliance, friends with Leia and Wedge and yet he turns out to be the Imperial agent. And once Dusque says that she truly believes in the Alliance, he decides that she must die and stabs her in the heart.

I haven't started it yet, but skipping through the prologue and seeing the mention of naboo gave me a shock, as I didn't realize how recently it was made.

+That would be because the Search function doesn't work. And yes, we do know that it doesn't work, you don't need to tell anyone about it. It's pretty common knowledge.

I did not know that...?:| I haven't tried searching for anything until then
