The Essential Chronology doesn't specifically mention Madurrin, but an Anx is shown in a picture of the first students at the Academy. From statements by Dan Wallace, he has more or less said that Madurrin is the Anx in that picture.

Confirmed:
1. Kam Solusar
2. Kirana Ti
3. Dork 81
4. Gantoris
5. Streen
6. Tionne
7. Kyle Katarn
8. Brakiss
9. Corran Horn
10. Madurrin

Possibles: Harlan, Dal Konur, Havet Storm, Keyan Farlander, Kenth Hamner, Tresina Lobi, Desann, Ken Palpatine, Corwin Shelway

Supposedly The Essential Chronology puts Madurrin in the first 12. I have not read the book myself, so I am not sure how accurate this information is.

Gantoris? Not that I know of. Unless you're confusing him with Brakiss.

He might be mentioned in some of the later books (possibly in the Jedi Academy game?) but I don't think he's been in anything else.

I'm not sure where to ask this so here goes. I know Gantoris from somthing else. has he been in any books besides I, Jedi, and the JAT, obviously set before them, as he dies. But I just KNOW I have heard of him from somwhere else.

As on-top-of-things as I may sound, I was a bit confused as well at first... :)

Indeed. The posted list adds up to 15 if you include the three later students, so I don't think he meant them as part of the 12.

I think the original poster new this; that's why he included the 3 unknown students before Mara, Kyp, and Cilghal.

*Corran Horn (under the alias Keiran Halcyon)
Kam Solusar
Brakiss*
Gantoris*
Streen
Tionne
Dorsk 81*
Kirana Ti
Kyle Katarn
(unknown student #1)
(unknown student #2)
(unknown student #3)
Mara Jade
Kyp Durron
Cilghal
*

Mara Jade was not one of the original twelve, and neither was Kyp. Kyp came when gantoris died, and so did mara, raising their number to thirteen. How do I know this?

Wow, I knew about Quin and Shada, but not the others. That's cool.

This is getting kind of off-topic though...

Shada D'ukal, Talon Karrde's lieutenant after the Hand of Thrawn duology, was one of the two Mistryl masquerading as the Tonnika Sisters in A New Hope.

Walex Blissex, designer of the Victory-class Star Destroyer and the A-Wing, was made one of the unnamed people in the Rebel briefing in Return of the Jedi; you can see his picture here,

While we're on the topic, here're Decipher CCG's pics of Tycho, Page, and Shada.

I know that Quin Vos is in Ep 1, where r the rest?

Page, just like Tycho Celchu was retroactively included in RotJ. But unlike Tycho, Page was part of Han Solo's ground attack force. Apparently Bren Derlin, better known as Cliff Claven, was part of that team as well.

Never heard of most of the others. Might be PT characters. I haven't read any of the PT novels, basically because I wasn't that impressed with the first two episodes.

I'm only halfway through I, Jedi, but don't recall Kyle's name popping up.

It isn't; he's first mentioned as attending the Academy in The Essential Chronology.

And there is no way he could be included in the original JAT since it came out before Dark Forces, and that was where he made his first appearance.

Yep. The originaly JAT only mentioned six of the twelve in the first class; Anderson left the rest unnamed so later authors could "plug in the holes" as needed, which Stackpole wound up being the first to do.

*Is this another case of using an existing situation to provide backstory, like Tycho in RotJ?
*

Yep. It's actually pretty common; you'd be surprised how many semimajor EU characters (Quinlan Vos, Shada D'ukal, Lt. Page, Walex Blissex) are actually in the movies as background characters - in the cases of Page and Blissex, retroactively.

Interesting. Can anyone name another team of a master and twelve disciples?

How about Jacob/Israel and his 12 sons.

Another, Muhammad and the descendants of his cousin 'Ali, the 12 Imams of the Shiites... though they didn't all exist at the same moment in time, there is something to be said for the mystical tradition and the probability of teaching in the mystic realm.

Oh yeah, and early on GL had theorized the Jedi as having been founded by "the Skywalker" who passed his teachings to his 12 children... the biblical theme has always been present in SW... i don't see why people tripped out on the virgance in the Force thing and the "Chosen One" prophecy.

3 of the original 12 seems to be too many to leave
unnamed. I'm wondering now if JTS has anymore info
on this.

Only the guesses I've already made in this thread and others.

One other thing I just noticed regarding the Dathomiri witches.

At the end of chapter 24 of I, Jedi, the remining 12 students and the twins are holding their war conference. One line stands out.

The Dathomiri Witch watched me carefully.

This leads me to believe that Kirana Ti was the ONLY Dathomiri at the Academy at the time.

So, I think we can narrow the list down.

I know its been a while since this topic was discussed, but I found myself trying to come up with this list myself while re-reading I, Jedi.

I really don't have any solid evidence to help here, but I do have a question.

We know for a fact that we can name 8 (9 if you count Kyle Katarn).
The first three to arrive
1. Corran Horn, aka Keiran Halcyon
2. Kam Solusar
3. Brakiss
The rest of the 12
4. Gantoris
5. Streen
6. Kirana Ti
7. Tionne
8. Dorsk 81
9. Kyle Katarn
The last 3 are as yet unnamed.

I'm only halfway through I, Jedi, but don't recall Kyle's name popping up.
And there is no way he could be included in the original JAT since it came out before Dark Forces, and that was where he made his first appearance.
