What's on the cover of Dark Tide II: Ruin
It's understandable that folks wouldn't readily recognize this. It's the old decrepit freighter, the Lost Hope. It's designed after the Trade Federation ships, but it's much, much smaller. It was used as a decoy with the Best Chance hidden in it. Those red things aren't continents or anything (it looks a little like a world to me), they're part of the damage and aging to the freighter. The yellow rings are lights.

Who remembers the Yetheva? (Besides JTS.)
Well I guess it's kinda hard to remember a species that, instead of surrendering, decided to let themselves be completely wiped out by the Republic... :-D

Is there a place where we can get the release dates for NJO books in Europe? Particularly UK. *
The dates are worldwide release dates. It's up to your local bookshop so get on their cases and make sure they get them in early. :**)

Part of our thinking in not addressing every continuity opportunity in VECTOR PRIME was the hope that we would bring in new readers; readers who could get confused and frustrated if the book had all 13,298 character threads known to you avid and well-loved Star Wars fans.
My complaint about the continuty in VP was that there was too much... Who remembers the Yetheva? (Besides JTS.)
As for the Jaina and Jacen changing... Well, they're teenagers. Bound to happen. And if it makes them a LOT more interesting in the process, so be it.
And I like the 'new' Kyp, too.
Of course, I make a habit of forgetting most of Bantam's less savory efforts...

The abrupt character changes in Jacen and Jaina kinda shocked me in VP. Here I was used to a happy-go-lucky Jacen and Jaina in YJK, then boom they were all serious. But now I see the changes were kinda necessary to attract an older audience and a newer enemy. The marriages seemed forced together without us knowing background info, as well as Leia's step-down from office. Everything seemed a little rushed at the start. But it's all good now.

As far as Tendra -- I honestly don't remember she and Lando ever getting married "on camera." When we were trounced upon for "forgetting" this, we went along with you all and assumed they had gotten married "off camera" and went with it. I can understand why the hard-core fan was disappointed in that first book -- we just didn't want to throw too much in there and instead decided to spend the time setting up the series.

That's where all the purple-screen-name replies in this thread come from (although there have been sightings in other threads too.)
Why do I feel like a purple warbler or some other bird being watched?

Welcome, Tasty Taste and Nerf Lover!
Now for a question to whichever of you VIPs is more qualified to answer it:
Regarding the lack of continuity in Vector Prime: i.e., the complete absence of Tendra Risant, the switching-around of the characters of Jacen and Anakin, etc. It seems like most of the continuity references in VP came from Zahn's "Thrawn" trilogy.
A long time ago I heard (I don't remember where) that the Lucas/Del Rey editors specifically instructed Salvatore not to read too many of the "old EU" materials because you wanted him to have a "fresh perspective on SW" when he was starting off the New Jedi Order series. Is this true? Is this something you're even allowed to answer?

Quietly added to our list of VIPs are Tasty Taste, otherwise known as Leland Chee, keeper of the Holocron and knowledgable on the mercurial world of contintuity. Also Nerf Lover has been upped to purple status, though he's been known to lurk for some time. He's Jason Hall, frequent contributor to Star Wars Tales. As with our other VIPs, they're busy folks, so who knows how often they'll post and where... but they have expressed interest in joining the forum community, so keep an eye out for them.
