Just as I thought about Ceel. He can still be in the Battle of Grassy Plains but just not on screen.

Or maybe Ceel was incapacitated early in the battle, leaving Jar-Jar the only officer of general rank . . . in which case, see my earlier comment. ;-)

Well, I guess that's that...it does raise the question....why does Tarpals give the order? And why does Ceel not pop up and start ordering troops...

Perhaps Tarpals is relaying orders from Ceel.....

Mr. Taste, does the correct in-universe pronunciation of "Caedus" fall under your jurisdiction? I'd like to see the matter laid to rest.

Darth NTM:

Personally, it makes no sense for Tarpals, a mere Captain, to give the retreat order, and Ceel IS mentioned in the script and novel, so I just handwave it and say Tarpals and Ceel look quite similar. (As do most of the non "hero" gungans in the film").

It makes perfect sense when you realize who the Bombad General was . . . and that the Gungan Grand Army realized this fact, as well. I don't care HOW many stars you put on Jar-Jar's shoulders, I'm going to follow the orders of the guy with the actual clue, even if that means the Gungan equivalent of a court martial after the fact. It's not like Jar-Jar countermanded the order, anyway.

Tobler Ceel has never been confirmed as appearing in The Phantom Menace. The lines from the published script attributed to Ceel are spoken by Captain Tarpals in the film.

The "Retreat! Retreat!" line is given to General Ceel in the script, yet the film character very closely resembles Tarpals.

So, either Tarpals and Ceel look quite similar (and both have moustaches) or Tarpals gives that line.

No biggy.

Hmm, I wonder if this means we need a "Visual Lack of Discrepancies in the EU" thread, too. ;-)

Anyway, it makes sense that Industrial Automaton wouldn't make every one of their mass-produced R-series droids unique, and thus we can find the same paint scheme on more than one droid.

Cool! So this means that R2-Q2 wasn't Biggs' Astromech Droid either :) Thanks for replying !

We treat the droid on Yavin 4 and the R4-I9 mentioned in the Visual Dictionary as separate droids. The R4 on Yavin doesn't have a name. Droid parts in the films often get reused for background elements. If anyone can tell me the difference between Porkins's astromech and R5-D4, let me know. Ditto for Biggs's astromech and the Imperial droid R2-Q2 seen aboard the Tantive IV. Or John D's and R4-M9.

Another identity problem. R4-I9 was released as an Imperial Droid by Hasbro in an Imperial Multipack. But an R4 unit that looks exactly like R4-I9 can be seen on Yavin 4 when Luke is confronting Han about leaving the Rebellion in the background.

I don't remember seeing R4-I9 elsewhere in any of the movies so is R4-I9 a Droid used by the Alliance on Yavin 4 or is R4-I9 still an Imperial Droid (not seen in the movies) and does the Rebel Droid remain unnamed?

And encyclopedia.wizards.pro borrows text from Wookieepedia, so it's not a source in and of itself.

Yep, I know about Notluwiski :) But that name is always given as a concept name. I want to see it as the established firstname of Papanoida.

N Papanoida

Did some googling (did not yet check it in the book, though):

http://encyclopedia. wizards.pro/index.php/Papanoida

"Baron Papanoida is portrayed by Star Wars creator George Lucas and accompanied by Lucas's daughter Katie Lucas playing Chi Eekway. It is not specified what the letter "N" stands for, but the book The Cinema of George Lucas (2005) names this character as "Baron Notluwiski," so this could be the answer, implying that his full name and title is Baron Notluwiski Papanoida of Wroona. "

Notluwiski is also menioned in http:/ /www.starwars.com/databank/character/baronpapanoida/?id=bts

And why would such authorization/"permission"
be impossible to obtain? +

Because if they were going to authorise it, they are
in fact hiring you - and you are writing official
EU.

Fanfiction is by definition non-authorised.

Oh because then if you were that serious they'd probably offer to pay you money
for the stuff, and then bam, by definition, you're hired, as you're getting paid.
And then bam, you're writing official material, as anything "authorized" is
"official", again pretty much by definition.

So "authorized fanfiction" is an oxymoron. That makes more sense.

I concur. I was hoping this guy would get a name in the Visual Guides. But since they haven't been updated in a long time, I fear we'll never know his name.

I have a question for Chee.
Some of us noticed an unnamed fairly old officer in the Death Star Conference Room
(http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/2/29/Unknown-2_%28c onference%29.jpg)
Could he be that Romodi we've been looking for?
In my humble opinion, it could be a quite interesting retcon and an useful way of filling the gaps in the conference room.

I've checked the RotS Visual Dictionary, The Complete VD and Dressing a Galaxy. Papanoida is never addressed as N. Papanoida.

On what page exactly did you see the N.?
