Tasty,

I heard-I think from Sue-that you guys are adding the new clone wars planets to your master map. Could you give us a rough idea of where some of these planets have been placed?

*Where is Dorvalla located? *

The placement of Dorvalla between the Rimma Trade Route and the Corellian Trade Spine is based on the description of its location in Cloak of Deception.

For the time being, we are disregarding the placement of Dorvalla in the Cadavine sector as described in the Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook (which also misspelled "Zhar" as "Zahr.") As far as I know, there are no intentions to expand upon whether a second Dorvalla exists or not.

But then WOTC's Revised Core Rulebook places Dorvalla on the other side of the Rimma Trade Route and the Hydian Way, which cannot possibly be in the same sector as Zhar.

My question is: where is Dorvalla located, is it where it appears on the recent maps, or closer to Zhar as earlier sources suggested, or are there two Dorvallas?

Alright, here's my question nit-picky for the week. It's about the placement of Dorvalla.

Dorvalla is first mentioned in Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook on page 91. It is described as the recently established capital of the Cadavine Sector, and located "only 30 minutes away from Zhar by hyperspace route." Zhar "lies near the astrographic center of the... Cadavine Sector", so Dorvalla should be located very close to Zhar in the same sector.

According to Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter page 335, Dorvalla is in the Vivenda Sector. At the time, this was an easy fix as 35 years passed between the two stories. It is entirely possible Palpatine renamed the sector (possibly to honor a hero of the Empire), or that sector boundaries changed over the years, which we know happened in the case of Duro according to Coruscant and the Core Worlds page 85.

Also, the hyperdrive had been damaged and they didn't have the hyperspace capability to make it all the way to Coruscant. They stopped on Tatooine because it was a nearby planet where they could get the hyperdrive replaced outside the jurisdiction of the Trade Federation. Anything on the way to Coruscant would be within the Trade Federation's reach.

In Episode I, Amidala, Qui - Gon, Obi - Wan etc. left Naboo to go to Coruscant, but why did they stop on Tatooine, when its not on the way?

I'm pretty sure this has been officialized somewhere, but Tasty Taste can step in if not...

The Queen couldn't fly directly from Naboo to Coruscant due to the lack of a direct hyperlane. Instead, they were going a little "out of the way" in order to reach the Corellian Run, which zips people right to Coruscant in hours. It's like backtracking to reach a freeway on-ramp.

I have the map from the Fact File and it is the best thing I've ever seen. My knowledge has increased of Star Wars since then, but one thing I don't quite understand. In Episode I, Amidala, Qui - Gon, Obi - Wan etc. left Naboo to go to Coruscant, but why did they stop on Tatooine, when its not on the way?

"Similar notes appear with planets like Alderaan, Carida, and Caamas."

How come other destroyed planets didn't have little notes under their names too?

That's the location where Zonama Sekot was last seen in Rogue Planet.

On some of the maps, like the one included with Insider 65, the fine print "LAST KNOWN POSITION" appears beneath the planet name. Similar notes appear with planets like Alderaan, Carida, and Caamas.

If I remember correctly ZS didn't learn to hypertravel until Rogue Planet. Meaning that the location on your map is where it was for thousands of years-or maybe millions, until it started hopping around.

My maps a lot like that. I don't remember where I got it, but it's got Star Wars Gamer written on it in the corner.

I don't know if you can answer this question, but what the heck. My map helps a lot in keeping track of where everyone's going. On my map it has a picutre of Zonoma Sekot on it, not far from Belkadan, Helska, and those planets. Because Zonoma Sekot can change locations as it pleases (I believe), is that it's current location, or is that where it was last spotted when Anakin and Obi-wan went there?

There are many things in the Rebellion Game that have since been scrapped. Coruscant being in the Suswena Sector for instance. On the other hand some parts of it were fairly accurate. The placement of Bespin, Endor, and Yavin, in Rebellion are all pretty close to the new placements. Besides, Rebellion was a sweet game. I still play it occasionally. ;)

Tasty,
I love the map. I liked maps ever since I was a little kid. Hehe. Is there any possibility of there being an interactive map on sw.com someday? That would be awesome.

Edit: Welcome to the boards, Dan.

what does WOTC stand for?
WOTC stands for Wizards of the Coast, makers of the Star Wars Roleplaying Game and Star Wars trading card game.

The main RPG page is located here: http://www.w izards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/mainrpg/rpg**

As to the Kessel inconsistency, we're looking into figuring out how/if we'd like to resolve it... I'll let you know if I hear more. For Sacorria, moving forward I would treat the WOTC material as definitive.

And thank you, Mr. Dan Wallace, for joining in on our little thread. We greatly welcome your insight and experience.

I would like to admit, I also have the Galaxy Map from Insider hanging in my room...framed and all. It sparked a thing I have been working on the past few weeks of changing it to a star wars theme. I now have a giant poster of Episode I hanging in a frame in there, and also that 20th anniversary of Episode VI. I am gonna get more posters soon! That galaxy map is still my fav. though.
