Leeland, not sure if this has already been asked before...

Where are the 'new' Episode III planets located in the Star Wars Galaxy? Ie: Saleucami, Felucia, Pollis Massa, etc...

Also, when talking about binary stars and systems, the terms 'Major' and 'Minor' are often used, rather than 'Prime'.

*Do all system's suns get called Prime?
Or am I just missing somthing here?

The "Couscant Prime" name for Coruscant's sun is not a second name, it is a continuity error. The label "Prime" necessitates that there is an accompanying "Minor", implying that Coruscant is a binary star system. All other sources, EU, AOTC, and TPM, show Coruscant to have only one sun.
*

I don't think it's a continuity error. I'm almost certain that the intended implication was that there is a convention in which "Prime" indicates the star at the center of the named system, in this case the Coruscant System. So "Coruscant Prime" would literally just mean "the star of the Coruscant System." This would, of course, be a convention that is not always used, even when talking about that specific system. But I'm almost certain the authors didn't intend it to mean that there were two stars in the system, regardless of what "Prime" may mean in the real world or whatever.

Well I figure since there are people out there putting in a lot of time and effort in projects like the SW Timeline Gold, I figured maybe there would be some that might go for a mapping project.

But there are some factors I'm not really taking into account, like estimates of how much harddrive space a model that big would take up, or if there are 3D programs that are even capable of doing such large model on anything but a supercomputer.. Still, it would be a very cool project to try.

hm, i'm curious... has lucasarts ever considered
making a 3d map of the sw galaxy?

Probably not. Plus, they're in the video games business, so they aren't quite the practical choice to make it, unless it were part of a game.

Is Coruscant's sun have two names?

I thought it had a "official" name.
And yet Medstar called it Coruscant Prime.

Do all system's suns get called Prime?
Or am I just missing somthing here?

Yeah, they probably wouldn't consider that worth the time and effort. It would be quite cool though.

hm, i'm curious... has lucasarts ever considered making a 3d map of the sw galaxy? if you could make a 3d model, put in some kind of browsing system so you can zoom in and out of specific sections of the map, you could fit as much in as you wanted.. but then again, I assume that would take quite a bit of time to do.

Tasty, where might one find the planet Thustra from the Jedi: Yoda comic, and the planet Rendili from Star Wars: Republic "The Dreadnaughts of Rendili"?

Thanks much for the kind words -- the scenarios were a lot of fun to write, and I hope they're also fun to play. Wizards just posted the next one (it's the 4th of 6 parts), which includes a bit more geographical detail about Junction and its neighbors....

Hey fellow geography nuts, the folks at Wizards were kind enough to let me try a series of Star Wars Minis scenarios recreating the story of Valance the Hunter, from the old Marvel comics. There'll be some geographical tidbits in the series -- not a ton and nothing earthshaking, but still some new stuff. There's also some new information about Valance's background, if anyone's old-school. Here's the link: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=swminis/article/huntwi thin1 Anyway, hope folks get a kick out of it....

blueskinredeyes:

where is (and whats left of) Imperial space

As of the Hand of Thrawn duology, it consists of eight isolated sectors in the Outer Rim, between the Unknown Regions and the Hydian Way.

Another thing- why are all the maps flat? Isn't the Galaxy a ball?

No. It's a spiral (or possibly a barred spiral), which means the majority of it falls within a fairly flat disk only a few hundred light-years across, with the Deep Core (and possibly also the Core Worlds) being the major exception, in the form of a central bulge in the galaxy. On the scale of a whole galaxy, differences in location within the "thickness" of the galactic disk aren't terribly relevant.

Additionally, three-dimensional starmaps don't fit in books nearly as well. ;-)
