Does '22 BBY', for instance, mean the exact date at which Episode II occurs, in which case the events just before it are in late 23 BBY, or does '22 BBY' refer to the Coruscant calendar year in which Episode II falls on the 5th or 6th month?

As far as the months of the twins and Anakin's births go, Based upon when in the NJO books Jacen and Jaina went up in age (usually the first paperback after each hardcover, April release dates) , with the Galactic Standard 10-month calander, and each Hardcover starting at the end of each year, they were born towards the beginning of the fourth month of the Galactic calendar. Anakin seems to go up in age at about the last paperback before each hardcover, so that puts his birth month at roughly the seventh or eighth month on the Galactic calendar.

Tahiri is only a year younger than Anakin, not two. Valin is two years younger than Tahiri.

Oh, I see what you mean. Yes, a lot of people want to place everything on the timeline just by what year it happens (which makes sense most of the time, since more precise dates are rarely given), but it seems to me that some things are unavoidably later in a year, or take place over many months, in which case I don't personally think it quite makes sense to just say which year they are.
I'm not sure what Nathan's timeline says about the matter, but I'm inclined not to use the SWTG as a primary source - I prefer to go and find the information on my own. In this case, I came to the conclusion that the twins had to have been born at least at 9.5 ABY, and Anakin probably near the end of 10 ABY (supported by the Dark Horse timeline, which rounds it to 11 ABY). I'm not sure how much or if the authors of the later books have taken this into account, but it seems unavoidable to me.
As for Tahiri and Valin's ages, I don't know much about that.

Rainbow,
what you posted was crystal clear is just that it either sort of contradicted what I read in the SWT-G or (more likely) I interpreted it wrongly.
In any case, since your dates make a lot more sense, I'm going to take them as definite.
One question though, if Anakin was born on 11 ASW4, then Tahiri (2 years younger) was born in 13 ASW4 and this would mean she's the same age as Valin Horn...I'm not sure that's entirely correct, is it?

Ok...I'd be glad to try and help clear it up if possible...which part of what I posted was confusing? Or was it just confusing in general?

In any case, I've checked Anakin's first record and it says he's born on Nespis VII on the year 10 ASW4. I take from there that Jaina and Jacen were definitely born on year 9.
Heir to the Empire started at 9 ABY, at which time Leia was 3 months pregnant (according to the book itself), so by the time they were born in The Last Command it would have to be at least 6 months later (half a year; Zahn seems to use the 12 month calendar in his books) - so a more accurate date for the twins' birth would be 9.5 ABY.
Anakin was born in Empire's End, which takes place either late in 10 ABY (according to most timelines, I think) or early in 11 ABY (according to Dark Horse's timeline).
So the birth dates are roughly 9.5 ABY for the twins and 11 ABY for Anakin; 11 - 9.5 = 1.5, thus the year and a half age difference.

I aim to please. Now if only I can get through all of my microcassette-recorded notes from the New Essential Guides to Vehicles and Vessels & Technology before this release, but I'm beginning to doubt I'll have time. I have two other new releases to go up that day on my other site, and the second part of a KJA interview on the 15th of this month to get up.

Looks like I'll be changing the Mara age references in the next SWT-G. Nathan, are you going to release the new timeline anytime soon? I was kind of hoping you would release an updated version after RotS...
Regarding Mara's age and before I found SWT-G, I had been under the impression that she was roughly Luke and Leia's age...
Ah, I've been looking around for the ages of Gavin's kids and I haven't been able to find anything... I think that if I really want to find out, I'll have to check every one of the books... !

+So, that information in the WotC book has been
overwriten now? +
Possibly. There's some other dubious info there -
Jorus C'Boath is described as 38 during TPM with a
big white beard.
Hmmm....?:|
That isn't all that implausible. Some people grey early because of Stress or other factors. Also, He could simple have naturally white hair; look at Winter and Tionne. When I was small, living in Arizona for a year, our next-door neighbors had two boys about the same age as me and my brother. Their hair was so light a blond that it was almost white, so Jorus C'Baoth's hair being white at 38 is not all that unbelievable.

Well, if so, can we have a little restraint on pre-ANH stories about Mara? I find it implausible that a teenager is a l33t assassin.

Actually, wait, I just found where I had noticed the date thing before for Mara:
In the Core Rulebook for the WOTC version of the RPG, she is referenced as being "at age 45" in a profile for her that is dated 25 ASW4. That would put her birthdate back at 20 BSW4, a year older than Luke (or two years, back when we thought Luke was born 18 BSW4, not 19 BSW4).
So, that information in the WotC book has been overwriten now?

And, by the way, I talked to Jeremy a bit ago by email about the Grievous timeframe. Yes, it's in Visionaries, but, no, there's no date set yet.
So, for now, I think the official date is a shoulder shrug.

The ages from the Fact Files family tree are
accurate.
That would corrispond with what Star Wars Insider #47 said about Mara's age being two years younger. Thanks Tasty.

The ages from the Fact Files family tree are accurate.
I don't have anything on Gavin's kids, adopted or biological. The earliest birth year for the biological children is 11 ABY. No concrete year has been set for Gavin and Sela's marriage, but it also can be no earlier than 11 ABY.
