What is the relation of Komari Vosa and Asajj Ventress?
The curved lightsabers that Dooku gives to Asajj are supposedly the ones that Komari Vosa used as leader of the Bando Gora in the Bounty Hunter videogame. Asajj?s two original lightsabers were the ones that she had built herself and the lightsaber of her original Master.

Both characters took inspiration from concept art created for AOTC. When coming up for the main female Clone Wars villain, some of us considered resurrecting Komari Vosa but the idea of a wholly new character was ultimately chosen. Seeing that it would be too much of a coincidence for two of Dooku?s students to have twin curved lightsabers, it would make sense that he simply passed them down from his first fallen student.

Didn't the first episode show some Rattatak...

Most of the planets shown in that first episode have not yet been identified. Rattatak is not one of those planets. The underwater planet where we see Kit Fisto for a split second looks awfully like Otoh Gunga on Naboo.

Will Anakin act as if he's never met Ventress...
As mentioned in my first post, please refrain from asking questions about chapters yet-to-air.

...I'm curious if the writers of the show actually are taking the comics into account.
Micro-series continuity with the comics and the rest of the Clone Wars program is dealt with on Lucas Licensing's end, since we really can't expect the micro-series creators to read/play every Clone Wars comic, novel, and videogame, especially when much of the stuff hadn't even been released at the early stages of development.

With that said, a great deal of reference material provided to Cartoon Network was developed initially by the comics. Comics author, Haden Blackman created most of the background for Durge and Asajj, including the story behind the planet Rattatak.

Rattatak being a flashback was decided as soon as we received the proposed chapter outlines for the micro-series.

He did indeed, however I'm curious if this was the original intent, or a retroactive "fix." Seeing as how there is no evidence in the episode that supports it being a "flashback" (IE: everything getting blurry with weird sound effects ;-)). Not that I don't believe it is one (Leland's word is bond), but I'm curious if the writers of the show actually are taking the comics into account, or just letting the astute continuity editors and holonet keepers worry about it and telling their story as they please.

Mav, the ep is a flashback, it takes place before that comic, its about their first meeting. Leland mentions it earlier in this thread, I think?

Will Anakin act as if he's never met Ventress before when he battles her, or will their dialogue reflect the events of Republic # 51-52?

Obviously not all Mon Cal are allied with the Republic, and some are traitors to their own species...

And not all of the Quarren side with the Separatists.

Suggested Databank entries for further info:
Quarren Isolation League
Mon Calamari Knights

Correct me if I am wrng, but I thought the Mon Calamari were Sepratists. I haven't read many of the Republic Comics, and my knowledge is very limited, but I thought in The Defense of Kamino, Kamino was attacked by the Mon Calamari. In this series the Mon Calamari were on the side of the Republic.

"I've only seen one chapter and it didnt include Obi-Wan or Anakin. It only had 3 Arc troopers and a bunch of clone troopers."

That was the ep where Captain "Sargent" talked to Obi-Wan over holocommunicator, halfway through, :).

That's exactly what I said, :), when I said "not a true sith".

All she is is a Dark Jedi with occultic knowledge of the ways of the Sith. She's no more a true sith, than Granta Omega, Jerec, or Gorc & Pic(brothers of the Sith), or the Sorcerors of tund were, :). They are merely just cultists, mere Dark Jedi(except that Granta couldn't even be that) with knowledge only little bit more than Dark Jedi, because of their knowledge of the sith's ways.

As for the hands JTS, is right, none of them are trained specifically in the ways of the Sith (except for Lumiya, who was planned as one of Vader's plots to overthrow Palpatine).

Doesn't mean they were Sith. There's a distinct difference between a Dark Side Force-user and someone trained in the machinations of a Sith Lord.

Duh! All the Emporer's hands remember?

They weren't Sith. They were specially-trained, Force-assisted assassins who worked only for the Emperor. They did not receive training in the Sith arts.

I agree, but I also think we can't necessarily assume Sidious will obey the Rule of Two...

*He can't be. According to Republic (if memory serves) he is running around with Anakin and Obi-Wan as late as issue 54. Issue 54 takes place 6 months after Geonosis. If the Clone Wars cartoon takes place at 4-5 months he can't be there. *

Possible Spoiler?

In anycase I hear that she will announce formally the termination of her studies of the ways of the sith(I.E. denounce her studies) in the next episode when Dooku apparently will defeat her, and acknowledge him as a true "Dark Lord of the Sith".

end potential spoilers.

She has knowledge of the ways of the sith, as it says on her web biography at cartoon network. We know she didn't learn that knowledge from Dooku according to starwars.com databank. She is also called a sith apprentice on her action figure. So in other words she has to be an occultist studying the ways of the sith on her own, apprenticing herself into self studies of sith knowledge. But she has never got training from one from Darth Bane's order. She is not a "Dark Lord of the sith", there can be only 2 of those. She is more of a Sith Cultist, one who studies or practices the occultic ways of the sith without any formal training by the true "Dark Lords of the Sith" kind of like Granta Omega, except that she does have access to the force. Jerec was similar according to the Essential Guide to Characters, as were the Tund according to the Essential Chronology, and Gorc and Pic according to Jedi Knight. They can't be "Dark Lords of the Sith" merely just Sith Cultists.
