2) A bit of a blast from the past; on page 71 of this thread, I asked the question:

+"A follow up question - of the two official continuities (the films alone continuity and the films + EU continuity), is one more 'official' than the other; which is the 'true' Star Wars universe? "+

To which you replied:

"You're asking the Keeper of the Holocron, so of course I'm gonna be a bit biased. The "film purists" aren't the types to be hanging out on the boards so it's unlikely you'll hear much official rebuttal around these parts. With that said, the reality is that a huge number of people who have seen all 6 Star Wars films have never played a Star Wars game, visited a Star Wars website, watched a Star Wars television program, read a Star Wars publication, or purchased a Star Wars action figure or collectible. It would be great disservice to discount these people as fans."

Hi Tasty, a trio of questions:

1) Earlier in this thread (page 118, seventh post) you stated that T-canon would appear in the Films+EU continuity, but not the Films Only continuity, as that only consists of the six main Star Wars films. Later on page 123, eleventh post, you said that T-canon is not part of the EU pillar, but the Lucas pillar.

Am I right in thinking that both of these statements are still correct, with the Lucas pillar being made up of G and T canon and the EU pillar of C and S canon (the two pillars going together to make the Films+EU continuity), or does the second of your statements override the first, with the Lucas pillar being the Films Only continuity (containing G and T canon) and the EU pillar being the Films+EU continuity (and not containing T-canon at all)?

Hey Tasty Taste,

What level canon is Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I know Lucas himself was involved a little with plot details and I also heard that it's hard to imagine Star Wars the same without this story. I know only the canon ending is, well, canon. But what level? Thanks.

I would assume the storyline is C-canon, since stuff like Dash's survival and their fight on Ord Mantell are referenced elsewhere, but gameplay stuff like Dash & the rebels blowing up the skyhook from the inside isn't.

Oh, one more. Last one, promise:

Is the Shadows of the Empire video game also considered S-canon?

Since it is part of the multimedia project, I cannot imagine so, but its creation in 1996 would put it in the abovementioned category of pre-Holocron video games.

And while I'm at it:

You said a few pages back how video games released before the Holocron was treated as S-canon. Does this include Star Wars: Episode I: Racer, then?

According to the Wook it was released in May 1999, and I have not heard of it being confirmed as continuity anywhere, which presumably would land it in the S category.

Tasty, I just found this snippet:

+Poster: Isn't there just a possibility to state 'this particular game is just a game' and not to include the events in de Holocron?
Tasty: Some games are certainly "just games" like Lego Star Wars. Other games are "just games" that happen to contain characters, creatures, locations, and technology that are part of continuity, like Masters of Teräs Käsi, Demolition, and Battlefront.+

Now according to a post you make here...
http:// forums.starwars.com/thread.jspa?threadID=152583&start=570
...the former two games are "just for fun", which I interpret as non-continuity. But since you lumped Battlefront in there with them, along with a description that sounds like S-canon to me, I gotta ask:

What canon level is +Battlefront I+? And by extension, +Battlefront II+?

If they are both just for fun and future reference, I can see some of the complaints regarding their continuity being answered.

asiy05:

seeing that there's a fan pillar of star wars, i guess it looks like fan fiction and fanon will be canon and part of continuity.

Umm, no.

And as an add-on to my last post, if the +Super+-class is canon, it would be 8 kilometers long, right?

Tasty,
I'm new to the message boards, so I don't know if this has been asked somewhere else before, but what's the deal with the +Super+-class Star Destroyer? I know it was supposedly created to hide the details of the +Executor+-class, but with it being mentioned in recent books (such as +Invincible+), is it an actual class?
Thanks

Everyone anticipated a huge reworking of continuity with the release of the Prequels, but thanks to some inventive retcons, the Expanded Universe remains largely intact. If Death Star can explain all of the continuity errors ever associated with the construction of the Death Star in one chapter, I'm sure the Expanded Universe can survive this reshuffling. With the television tie-in novels and comics, it might even become more mainstream within the fandom (yeah, I wish). If anything, the discrepancies between E.U. sources are less reconcilable than the discrepancies between the E.U. and the movies.

Yeah, it'd be really helpful to quell fan concerns over the new information in recent "secret updates" to the Databank regarding Clone Wars 3D characters (most particularly the "made a Jedi Knight at the start of the war" comment which a lot of people who are blowing things out of proportion, IMO are taking to mean there'll be some kind of timeline condensing, source placement rearranging or source nullifying (or some mixture of the three) if you could perhaps let us in on what the official plan is for continuity here regarding the new show, or even when it;s set (easily after Obession, or more difficult throughout the entire war).

I just think some clarification (or, if you aren't permitted to tell us just yet, if you can give us an idea as to when you can) would help give us a better idea of how to process this new information, because at the moment, it feels like we don't have the same familiar structure we've had of the EU in which to ascertain a context to understand this in.

I realize that continuity is going to be shifted and shuffled around in favor of the new Clone Wars movie/series--but does this mean a total "painting over" of the CW stories already in existence? In other words, is this a Clone Wars "reboot" (which I believe would be categorically bad and detrimental to the integrity of Star Wars, by the way) or just a "This is George's vision and the rest will be worked to fit accordingly."?

There's already quite the thread about this over at TF.N.

I realize I'm probably being unfair in asking this so long before the products in question are released, but I suppose it can't hurt.

1.) Do you have any confirmation on exactly when The Clone Wars theatrical film will take place. It's obviously after Dreadnaughts of Rendili (Anakin has the scar) and before Labyrinth of Evil, but beyond that, can you specify anything?

2.) Is there word concerning what year the Millennium Falcon novel will take place?

Totally understandable if you haven't gotten the memo, yet, but just thought I'd ask.

T-canon in its entirety is not supposed to be considered part of the EU pillar, but part of the Lucas pillar.

Holy cow! So, could you clarify even further?

Is The Clone Wars considered G-canon, or does this mean that T-canon in its entirety is not supposed to be considered part of the EU pillar, but part of the Lucas pillar?

*3) i've read some articles that say the clone wars and the live action series are going to be considered official star wars canon, along with the movies. official star wars canon? is that true?

Most things novadays are official SW canon. But there are different levels of it, each more reliable, or serving a certain purpose, than another. The new series will be pretty high up in this hierarchy, but not so high as the moves themselves.*

The clarify this point just a little bit further, The Clone Wars will not be considered Expanded Universe. They'll be ranked up there with The Movies.
