Tasty Taste:

Okay, I know in the past you have said "I will not go into specifics as to what is considered 'S' canon," but recently you chose to reveal that the Marvels are indeed S-canon, so I hope that was a precedent rather than a slip-up and that I'm not being presumptuous by asking:

What level are the Jedi Prince books (+The Glove of Darth Vader+ through +Prophets of the Dark Side+)?

I had always thought they fit your definitions of S-canon fairly closely, but I've gotten a fair amount of disagreement on this point, so if you could clarify this it would be very much appreciated. (I am, of course, aware that any elements from those books referenced in more recent works have been elevated to C-canon.)

Is Navik, the Rodian senator of Dark Tide I and Agents of Chaos II, the same person as Narik, the Rodian senator of Balance Point? It's a one-letter difference and seems like it could have easily been an author's mistake that slipped past editors.

On a related note ...

Are we sure that Senator Navik (Narik) is the same as Navik the Red from a few decades earlier on the timeline? Somehow I always assumed they just shared the same name, but is it already official that they are the same guy?

I thought that too, but when you look at the Rock Wart model, it's rather large, so the Worrt model would have been really huge.

For some reason I always thought the rock wart was the creature eaten by the worrt, which would mean your first and third questions answer one another.

But I see it is not cited as such on the Wooki, so I could be wrong....

Mr. Chee, I've got three questions about Jabba's Palace ...

  1. Has the creature that gets eaten by the Worrt got an official name yet?
  2. Where can you spot Attark in 'Return of the Jedi'?
  3. Where can you spot Rock Wart in 'Return of the Jedi'?

Wookieepedia mentions Romodi has extensive facial scarring (although I don't recall if this is accurate to the novelization). If true, then he couldn't be Motti.

Hi Tasty!

In Episode IV General Tagge argues with Admiral Motti about the use of the Death Star in the battle station's conference room. But in the novelization of the movie he talks to a certain "Romodi" instead of the admiral.

Could Romodi be the first name of Motti? As far as I know, he hasn't received one yet.
Or is Romodi one of the other Imperials in the conference room? If so, who is it?

In "The Stormtrooper's Tale", however, Davin Felth's POV is that his unit are aboad a "huge troop transport", cycling into Tatooine for a long-term garrison assignment, just happening to arrive just when Vader needs some stormtroopers; he also shoots, and apparently kills, their commanding officer, Captain Terrik, who's identified as commanding Desert Sands on his CCG card.

Can we assume that Felth's mind has been messed with, so that he's actually aboard Devastator - or should we take his POV as accurate and the stuff presented in GG1 as misinformation?

And either way, should we take it that Terrik is DSS-0956, and actually survives being shot?

Thanks!

Rather obscure question on MC80s, inspired by the post just above: should we still accept the statement in the original 1984 Guide to the Star Wars Universe that the Headquarters frigate has 29 turbolaser batteries of five guns each, for an implied total of 145, plus 36 ion cannon...?

And the question I came to ask, which is about the stormtroopers on Tatooine in ANH.

In Ep.IV, Vader tells Commander Praji to "Send a detachment down to retrieve the plans", and Galaxy Guide 1 accordingly describes the Desert Sands stormtrooper unit; a transcript of a debriefing from their "senior officer", stormtrooper DSS-0956, describes how, "After long weeks aboard Lord Darth Vader's Star Destroyer", they deploy to Tatooine specifically for the search for the droids. The ICS pic of Devastator shows a "+Sentinel+-class landing craft with Commander Praji's landing search team boarding".

In the computer game Star Wars: Republic Commando, CT-01/425 acts as an advisor to Delta Squad throughout the game. My question is, are there more of these clone advisors? Squads such as Theta (of Hard Contact fame) certainly don't have advisors. However, commentary by Ryan Kaufman on the Theforce.net forums (link) would indicate that there is in fact a group of clone troopers trained specifically to act as advisors. Could you perhaps shed some light on the issue, Mr. Chee?

+- Can we get some real armament figures for these ships (and MC80's)?
  • The stats we already have are what we intend to stick with.+

Does this mean no other film vehicle or vessel will be given the same kind of look-over like the Executor had (to make them fit more with the films)? Or has any changes already been made and will thus be reflected in upcoming publications?

Nice work, eddie.

"Princess Ellie" sounds like the kind of name a six-year-old girl would come up with, so I'm guessing it originated with Madison herself.

^ Interview with Jake Lloyd, the last paragraph of page 28 (Insider # 39, Aug./Sept. 1998):

Jake admitted that he did have a favorite co-star, but it was not Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Kenny Baker, Sam Jackson, Warwick Davis, or any of the familiar names associated with Episode I. Instead, it was his six-year-old sister, Madison. "She played Princess Ellie," Jake said with pride. "She got to be in a lot of scenes. She's standing right behind Artoo, and before the scene started, she'd rub his head...

And on page 30, first paragraph:

Jake also said that Madison would be ready if Princess Ellie ever was called to battle: "She has one mean kick to the leg," he said.

Valin, do have any clue what article mentioned her name (Ellie)? I picked up that Insider, but I couldn't find it. I didn't read it completely, but I just couldn't find any related article that could possibly have her name. Thanks :)

In recent places on the 'net, like Pablo Hidalgo's blog entry here, it's been pointed out that the red-helmeted pilot from A New Hope named Naytaan by a CCG card is actually being portrayed by Jack Klaff. According to the film's credits, Jack Klaff is supposedly portraying "John D". And you can't even argue that Naytaan is John D's last name, since Empire at War has since named him John D. Branon. Would Naytaan be considered this guy's official name, because John D is not actually named in a source outside of the film credits? It's all rather confusing, and I wonder if LFL could clear this up somehow.

Is End Game set in 19 BBY? Because it seems like a hell of a lot is happening in that year. Too much.

Mr. Chee, the character played by Jake Lloyd's sister in TPM, doe she have an official name? She's often called Ellé, but I don't remember ever seeing that name published in an official source.

Well, the old Insider #39, (and I do mean OLD, as in 1998ish vintage) mentioned she was playing a "Princess Ellie" as I recall.

But at any rate, it was in an OOU article published well before the movie even came out. In light of what Leland just said, I'm guessing that was a production name or self-applied name (a la Nathan Hamill's character) rather than anything official.

Hi Tasty!

Was the TIE pilot Qorl (from the "YJK") who stranded on Yavin IV after the Battle of Yavin intended to be the pilot Luke fights on Yavin 4 (in "The Day after the Death Star") ?
