I assumed that everything went according to Palpatine's plan. That he intentionally lost at Naboo, which forced the Trade Federation into the hands of the Separatists, thus ensuring that the Clone Wars would be long and bloody. I also assumed that Maul had to be sacrificed, not only to allow for Anakin, but also for Dooku, so that Palpatine/Sidious would be in direct control of the CIS. If Maul were still alive, Dooku would not become Palp's apprentice, and so Palp would have little to no control over the Separatist movement.
I assume that the "disappointment" at the failure on Naboo in the novel was because the author had little-to-no knowledge of what was coming up next. If the greater plan isn't visible, then the authors only perceive a single failure, not an intentional failure leading up to a grand success.

In the Phantom Menace novel, Palpatine was displeased with the outcome of the Battle of Naboo, angry over Darth Maul's death, and Anakin had only come to his notice before then. In the Essential Guide to the Force, however, Palpatine has seen Anakin days prior, foreseen he would become his apprentice, and therefore sacrificed Maul. Maul was said to be a tool to rattle the Jedi's long-complacent attitude.
Which is the canon version? Does the Essential Guide to the Force retcon the Phantom Menace novelization?

Mace said that Anakin needed to break the CIS blockade "before the next planetary rotation".
Why Filoni why. We can only assume that Twi'leks based their time units upon other planets in the system, like Or Tuma. Any official explanation, Mr. Chee?

*I've notived in the Clone Wars, episode 21: Liberty of Ryloth, that there is day and night in the same hemisphere. I'm the novel The Krytos Trap, it makes it clear that the same side always faces the sun.
Maybe they were near the edge? Where day meets night and the planet's tilt might still be enough to vary day from night in that narrow band around the planet?
Or they forgot about that fact?*
I rewatched Storm Over Ryloth last night, and they did basically forget that Ryloth was tidally locked. Mace said that Anakin needed to break the CIS blockade "before the next planetary rotation". I'm pretty sure that term refers to a Rylothian day (equal to one year, since one rotation is the same duration as one orbit), and not a Coruscant day, because otherwise he would just say "within 24 hours (or however many hours are in a Republic standard day)" or "before we get there tomorrow", which both imply a Republic standard day, not a local day.

Leeland, I've got a question.
All the sources I've read about Ajunta Pall claim he was redeemed by Revan. This seems logical.
Is it canon that Revan redeemed Ajunta Pall and returned to the Light Side, or not?

Hey, Mr. Chee, did Kreia die as Darth Traya, or was she still Traya? I know the KotOR campaign guide and the CSWE states that she was Traya, but wanted to get confirmation from you.

AFAIK, they've been calling Darth Vader the "dark lord of the Sith" since the ANH novelization, but they didn't actually get into the Sith order or the origins of it for a while.

I'd guess the latter, but I've also read that most Twi'leks lived at such a narrow band, so I guess that's it. Maybe we'll get more info in the Essential Atlas.

It's not a bad idea, but in the possible words of Darth Vader, "I wouldn't want that glove becoming another part of me," especially since his costume coordination would depend on whether the glove was black or white. Maybe it's just human nature, but he'd also probably end up leaving it in the closet. You are not alone in thinking it's a good idea, but sometimes you can't win.

Anything inside the glove might still conduct vast amounts of heat. In which case the wearer would still have to shunt the excess energy away in some way to avoid their hand/cybernetic equipment from cooking/frying inside the glove.
If you're going to get into that, you'll have to get into inertial dampeners, sound and friction in space, binary star systems, etc.

Deflecting blaster bolts with the palm of your hand was a legitimate force power. I remember students learning it sometime during Dark Nest Crisis (there was a scene where Luke was walking through the new Ossus Academy and passed several students practising the technique.

Where in "invincible" does it imply "non-conductive" material? The glove might be able to survive huge explosions, and laser blasts, but that doesn't mean that can't conduct the heat. Anything inside the glove might still conduct vast amounts of heat. In which case the wearer would still have to shunt the excess energy away in some way to avoid their hand/cybernetic equipment from cooking/frying inside the glove.

You know, come to think of it, I should've thought of how the glove was created in the first place. The way I understand it, it's a black polymer, essentially painted at the molecular level, over its base fabric, which was, of course, the even MORE infamous . . .
Glove of Michael Jackson.
(Yeah, had ya going.)

He didn't want to find out if it was really indestructible or not, considering what he paid for it.
