In Jedi Healer, Vondar was spelled Vandar so many times that I didn't know which was the correct spelling for a while.

In the X-Wing serires, Adm. Ackbar's neice is part of the Wraiths. In one book it is spelled Jesmin Ackbar and after she dies, later books spell her name Jasmin Ackbar. Which is right??

The subtitles used in the DVDs provide great fuel for this discussion. For example, since the "Dak" spelling is what appears in both the credits and the subtitles of The Empire Strikes Back, moving forward, that's what we'll try to consistently go with for Luke's gunner instead of "Dack" Ralter.

Who knows -- maybe in Star Wars, some things have multiple spellings, just like in English. And maybe it's common in the GFFA to confuse "system" with "sector." :-)

Anyway, thanks for clearing a bunch of this up, Tasty Taste!

*f I may voice my opinion, I'd like to believe Threkin Horm and "Hrekin Thorm" are single person. I realize it is a large galaxy... but what are the odds of there being two obese and rude (Dark Apprentice, p. 82) politicians in top government posts in a rather short period of time (three years?) with almost identical names except for the initial phonemes which are simply swapped? *

But we then have the problem that he appears to have been killed in Tattoine Ghost - then alive again in Dark Apprentice.

ad Hrekin Thorm

If I may voice my opinion, I'd like to believe Threkin Horm and "Hrekin Thorm" are single person. I realize it is a large galaxy... but what are the odds of there being two obese and rude (+Dark Apprentice+, p. 82) politicians in top government posts in a rather short period of time (three years?) with almost identical names except for the initial phonemes which are simply +swapped+? Yes, I know this doesn't mean it can't be... but come on... Ronald Dumsfeld?

If so, what is the difference? Is holographic just a picture (graphic) and hologrammic words (telegram, grammar, cardiogram)?

Hologrammic?
I just picked up MEDSTAR the other day, and perhaps that was intentional? (or was it that the authors just didn't know or couldn't think of the proper word, so they said, hey, let's just use this!

This is not a discrepancy, but a typo. Typos drive me nuts. But in "Shatterpoint" (sorry, don't remember the page), but it has "retofitted." It seems to use the word "retrofitted" more than once, but that typo somewhat irked since it's such a good book. small beans, I know, but I don't like seeing typos, especially since a spellchecker could have easily found that -- but, a spellchecker is only as good as the person using it.

Maybe ask in the VIP thread, though.

I will if I don't get a response pretty soon...

Tasty usually will respond in this thread too though.

On page 19 of The Cestus Deception, it is mentioned that there has been fighting on the planet "Cortao" withing the last month. Is this meant to be "Cartao," as featured in Timothy Zahn's "Hero of Cartao" story, which is set around the same time?

Another background tidbit, Roons Sewell from the Empire comics was going to be Roons Wessell, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with all the other Wes-'s.

Ah, that's interesting. I like Sewell better anyway.

Well, if we're going to be silly enough to have Rouge Squadron simply be what the French call Red Squadron, it's just as easy to suggest that Mons Calamari is simply what the Republic scouts called the largest mountain on Mon Calamari. After all, if they're going to rename the planet after the first species they meet, they can just as easily rename the local geography...

The biggest discrepancy to annoy me, though, is when different writers confuse system with sector. For example, Ithor is sometimes described as being in the Ottega sector instead of the Ottega system, but in either case is located in the Lesser Plooriod Cluster, which is in the Calaron sector. Similarly, there have been enough references to an Anoat sector that it appears WOTC finally made its existence official, even though it's only called the Anoat system in ESB.

In the Corellian trilogy there are a lot of misspellings mainly Mons Calamari instead of Mon Calamari.

No relation between Zam and the Imperial. Though there might be a relationship between General Redd Wessel and Governor Wessel from the Marvel comics. Another background tidbit, Roons Sewell from the Empire comics was going to be Roons Wessell, but the name was changed to avoid confusion with all the other Wes-'s.

does this mean General Wessel from Crimson Empire is actually General Wesell? Is he related to Zam?
