There were two Star Wars cartoons back in the 80s, one about R2 and 3PO and the other about the Ewoks.

Today is the 25th anniversary date for Droids and Ewoks. I remember waking up early to watch the first episodes of each series on Sept. 7, 1985. Time flies! Happy birthday Droids and Ewoks!

That, at least, would be a start. I don't think we should give up calling for the complete releases on DVD, though. After all, Rick McCallum said that was what we would be getting, and instead, we got not even half.

While I am really hoping that all of these shows make it to DVD in their complete form, it would be nice in the meantime to be able to watch them on starwars.com. If it can be done with the new Clone Wars, which is about to be released on DVD in a few months, then why not?

Perhaps Lucasfilm will release the complete series of each on DVD next year when the 3D Clone Wars series comes on TV. (HINT HINT)

I foolishly bought both the Droids and Ewoks DVDs from the bargin bin at Wal-mart, thinking I could relive some childhood memories. Wow, did I ever get gyped.

Why the hell would they leave the openings out? That was the best part of the shows! Also, why not include the Droids episodes with Boba Fett in them on the DVD? Lucas knows he's one of the most popular characters -- otherwise we'd be missing a huge chunk of Episode II, so why not include him? They were really the only Droids episodes I wanted to see anyway.

Ewoks was okay, but I still want to see more. Btw...anyone else notice how much the Duloks look like the Grinch?

As for the holiday special, I've never seen it, and from what I read here I'm not missing much. Still, for curiousity's sake I'd like to see it at least once.

If anyone knows where I can find copies of these, email me. Thanks.

Does anyone here know when Lucasfilm plans to release the COMPLETE series of both Droids and Ewoks? I've searched everywhere for any info on this. I love both of these series and was severly disappointed with the treatment they got in 2004.

IIRC, there were no other alterations than what you listed. I was very angry, however, with the ones they did make. Hopefully the complete, unaltered series will be released eventually by Lucasfilm.

What changes were made on the Droids DVDs? (Besides cutting the opening credits song and only including 8 episodes.) Specifically, what changes were made to the actual episodes?

The release last year was HORRIBLE. You could tell everything was rushed. They didn't have time, apparently, to put everything on disc they could have. For the droids/ewoks cartoons release last year, all they did was reuse the edited versions they did back during the SW trilogy SE's. And the ewok films could use a btter transfer.

Also, I wish that they would release The Star Wars Holiday Special on DVD.

I also hope they release the full series of Droids and Ewoks. Droids was 15 episodes and Ewoks was 35. However, they only released 8 episodes on DVD for each series. I read on Star Wars Wikicities that Steve Sansweet has said it is entirely possible.

In the beginning of the 1 hour episode, "The Great Heep", R2 and 3P0 are on a ship mentioning going to meet their new master, Mungo Baobab. BUT, according to airdate order, this ep not only happens at the very end of the series, but happens AFTER they've had 3 previous episodes with Mungo.

The Great Heep is actually, when you play the episodes chronologically, in the middle. Take a look at this site; it has the order the episodes were released, and the order you should watch them if you want the chronological order to be correct.
