I was wondering if there was a possibility that Escape From Dagu would be adapted in either the upcoming Clone Wars animated series or even a six issue mini-series from Dark Horse.

No, that's not going to happen.

Any chance of seeing a new Star Wars Encyclopedia?

It's true, there is a new Encyclopedia in the works. A volume that will update ongoing entries. Stuff that hasn't changed (i.e., "hydrospanner") won't be duplicated in this second volume. A pub date hasn't been set in duracrete yet, but we're looking at Fall 2008 as a possible release time. The format will be the same as the first volume, to keep it as a "set." That's about all that's been discussed at this point.

Karen, in A Two-Edged Sword were you already
using the 10-month calendar when you wrote that
Lekauf spent 6 months training his clones on
Yinchorr, or did you mean a half year?

I meant six Galactic standard months. But don't forget that's still close to half an Earth year anyway .

There are 35 days in a standard month (five days in a GS week, seven weeks in a GS month) , so 6 x 35 = 210 days.

In the Gregorian calendar we use, six months is approximately 31 days x 6 = 186.

So that's 24 days adrift. Not much in development and training terms.

Actually, that +Gauntlet+-class stuff was just recently pieced together at Wookiiepedia, which I'm working on with some other guys. I came here to ask for the official confirmation. :)

Darth-Jango:

1. Yes, I think it has been established that the other ships resembling the Allegiance are the same class.

2. This class of ship is known as the +Gauntlet+-class Star Cruiser. The line of text you referred to is generally regarded as describing the class of the ships rather than their function or as a collective noun.

2. Should I interpret that statement in Dark Empire II #5 as naming this class of ship +Gauntlet+-class (the way a +Victory+-class Star Destroyer is sometimes simply called a Victory Star Destroyer)? Or was it merely a reference to the ships' role in enforcing security around Byss, in conjunction with the Gauntlet Scanner Stations? Or should I assume that this was a typo, and that the comic should have said "the gauntlet of Star Destroyers?"

It would be really great if one of you guys could clear this up for me. We could potentially have a really cool ship class that was named in canon, but neglected for all these years in the EU.

In addition, the narration on page 14 of Dark Empire II #5 read "In order to avoid the Gauntlet Star Destroyers," and more of these slender, hangarless ships were seen in the very next panel. So, can anyone answer the following questions for me?

1. Would it be safe to assume that all of these ships were the same class as the +Allegiance+?

I have some Dark Empire questions that I'm hoping Tasty Taste or one of people from Dark Horse Comics could help me with.

In Dark Empire #3 Lando destroys an Imperial ship named Allegiance as he comes out of hyperspace around Mon Calamari. Normally, I wouldn't have given it much thought, because Dark Empire had many different types of ships that were never described and were seen only once. However, this one is different because it was referred to as a "Super Star Destroyer." It didn't look anything like the Super Star Destroyer in the movies, but like a regular Star Destroyer only somewhat longer, a big more slender, and without a hangar opening on the bottom. Unlike many other Dark Empire ships, numerous ships with the same characteristics as the Allegiance were seen throughout the series.

Any chance of seeing a new Star Wars Encyclopedia?

Yeah, actually. Steve Sansweet's been talking about maybe doing a new one. No timetable or announcements yet though. I think he said at one of the conventions earlier this year that he was "planning on it," but also that he didn't know yet exactly how he would do it. For example, if it would be a larger, more up to date version, or just a second volume or something.

Anyone who can answer - Any chance of seeing a new Star Wars Encyclopedia? I know we have fan encyclopedias out there (like Wookieepedia and the one found at TFN) but I really enjoyed the first one, and would love to see an updated version. Or are the Essential Guides supplanting a large single encyclopedia (which could probably span multiple volumes now)?

A note to anyone who may be trying to contact Karen Traviss, whether by email or through these boards: her computer changeover did not go according to plan and it may be days before everything is sorted out and she is back online.

Mail is particularly a problem and Karen has asked that people hold off sending emails until her system is up and running.

Hopefully we'll see her back soon (for her sake as much as ours).

:)

I don't know if this is up anybody's alley or not, but what are the chances of us ever seeing more Star Wars books as unabridged audio?

Sue has Tim Zahn turned his manuscript for Alleigance yet and I heard that he submitted a proposal for two other classic era SW books? Is that true?

No, to both...

"... about the Imperial group in The Phantom Affair that claims Endor never happened. It's only named once, as the "Ante-Endor Organization"; my opinion is that the intention is really "Anti-Endor" and it's just a typo, but others are saying it could be meant to mean ante- as in "before", in other words, "the Empire is the same as it was before Endor".

There's no indication that this is a typo, so we can only assume that Ante-Endor is correct.

It's also important when trying to figure out characters' birthdates. I calculated the difference between a GS month and Earth month to be 1.2 Earth months for every GS month on average, though, given the addition of Fete weeks and Holidays, and whether or not they are included within each month or are completely separate from each month needs to be taken into account.
