*Hey, Sue, is Deathtroopers going to go for a more psychological/thriller sort of horror story (like the old-style horror movies), or is it going to be over-the-top gross-out gory?
(Cover's awesomely creepy, by the way.)*

A bit of both, perhaps leaning just a touch more toward the gory horror, but all well within the story -- nothing gratuitous.

Deathtroopers cover = Wow

I wonder how this novel will affect the younger
demographic numbers...

Do the mainstream Star Wars novels even have a younger demographic? Completely ignoring the fairly graphic violence in NJO, these novels are quite complex. I can't picture anyone younger than fifteen or so actually reading them and understanding them.

Also, I have a question/suggestion for you. Have you ever considered getting the authors putting a one page reference at the back. To explain, often authors will reference other events in their work that occured in books or comics by others.

At the back they could include a quick reference along the lines of:

For more on Luke Skywalker's fall to the dark side, check out the Dark Empire Comics by Dark Horse

just a sentence for each major event they reference. I've heard fans were often confused by that one in particular and had a hard time finding where it happened. It would be a helpful way for fans to find further reading they're interested in, and a good method of cross-promotion among star wars novels/comics to increase sales of older products (for the sales department).

Don't know if you've thought about that, but it would only increase page count by one, and would be great free advertising for multiple products.

I'm going to second the suggestion that we eventually get comics set during NJO/LOTF (and even late in the New Republic era).

I know that this isn't technically your area, but perhaps you can speak to someone at Dark Horse (when you have time) and suggest the idea for them to explore after one of their current series is finally completed.

15 ABY to 45 ABY is pretty much devoid of comics, and they're a great way to give visuals of the main characters when not every one of them can make their own detailed cover. (not to speak of locations, ships, etc.)

Hi Sue,

I asked you a while ago if maybe one day you would release an art book for the New Jedi Order and Legacy of the Force series, as it's something that many fans would die for (we crave for more official depiction of scenes, characters, and ships that appear on these popular series). You replied that you would suggest it during your next reunion or something. You haven't mentioned the idea since, Has it gone to something or is it just a total flop ?
Second question : Has the idea of adapting both series as comics books ever been considered ? I would love it.

Saith

P.S : By the way thank you for being so close to fans, and spending some time (that I know you don't have much of) to give us informations, and listen to what we want. Thank You

Amazon UK has the title Renegade up for some time now. And Amazon has a May 2009 release-date, so it should be out somewhere in April...

Oh ok. Thank you for answering my question!

*Is there a plan to offer all new titles in unabridged audio formats? What is the criteria for which books get an audiobook reading and which don't? For example: Why did Millennium Falcon have an unabridged reading and Shadows of Mindor has no audio?
(I hope that doesn't come across as a grilling, I don't mean it as such)*

Random House Audio no longer contracts for every Del Rey title -- they pick and choose now. And all the titles will be unabridged in the future. They're working on OUTCAST now.

No, I don't feel grilled....
