Some of us were asking about e-books reprints. Is it possible to do it in new contract in creative way, for example in Scolastic books format (or maybe by Scolastic, is it going anything with their contract?). That kind of publishing will pealesed collectors, and foreign readers. For example in Poland it is impossible to translate any e-book :/.
So what you're telling us is... they forgot Poland?

*"For novels, you don't call them; they call you."
That's not what I read on the old VIP thread.
(Unless things have changed since then.)*
If I understand correctly, about the only thing you can do, IF you're a published and professional writer, is get your agent to contact their publisher to express your interest in writing for SW. (And even then, that's no guarantee) But that's all you can do. No pitching book ideas to them. No sending unsolicited manuscripts. That stuff won't get you hired, and might even keep them from hiring you in the future.
Pretty sure it's always been like that, and it probably always will be.

Do you have a particular post from that thread in mind? Because I believe, in less terse language, I've stated the position they've held ever since they opened the first VIP thread. The only way to become a SW novel author is to write some quality SF/Fantasy and get noticed, at which point they will approach your agent (which every reputable novelist will already have) about doing SW. The only semi-exception to this rule so far has been Karen Traviss, who built up enough pre-publication critical buzz that she was approached before her first Wess'har book hit shelves.

Sadly Archie Goodwin passed away some years ago. That was a real loss for the SW community as he was a man that was truly passionate about Star Wars AND a great writer who was able to capture the spirit of the Classic Trilogy and its characters in a way that few have been able to.
Sad news indeed. Thanx for the reply SithEmpire.

Brennandc, there is a Revelation excerpt at the end of Fury, and a few people have Fury already.

Hello Sue!
I would like to know if you're aware about Tsuyoshi Nagano's work, because his covers are so beautiful (for me far better thant Jason Felix's), and if he actually work on LOTF's cover ?

How exactly do you know what typos are in Revelation? Fury hasn't even been released yet.

Part 2! (Sorry - it's just so much fun!)
I'd also love for the books to start expanding the 'main cast list' again the way the introduction of Mara, Corran, Ganner, Jag, Tahiri, Nom Anor etc., all did during earlier novel series. Perhaps giving larger roles to characters like the Horn kids, the Antilles kids - to brand new Jedi, smugglers, pilots.
I know that there may be sales issues, but I also enjoy books that focus on people who aren't usually the main movie-heroes. Like the X-Wing series (I'd also like a new one!), the RepCom books, Shatterpoint. I like the sound of these new Coruscant Nights books for that reason!
Anything by Allston!
Again, I know there are sales issues, but I'd love it if you did audio book adaptations for all the novels again. I wish there were RepCom, Allegiance and Darth Bane audios available.
And, finally, a picture of Ben with red hair! All the ones we have at the moment are either blond, or indefinite due to the lighting!

Hi! I love this thread; it's always so impressive to me that Ms Rostoni comes here to chat to us fans so regularly but I'm not often moved to post/query anything. However, since she's opened this Pandora's box and seems amenable to random non-plot-based stuff-we'd-love-to-see-someday ideas, I thought I'd toss my thoughts into the ring:
KOTOR era: A novel about the Jedi Exile? I always thought that KOTOR II raised some stellar philosophical points about the Force and the Jedi and the Sith but perhaps the game, perhaps the format of the game, limited how well they could be explored. So I'd love anything about the Exile.
PT era: More Dooku and how he chose to become a Sith. He was fasciantingin Dark Rendezvous.
Post-LOTF: Anything with Jaina - I'm still hoping she'll step into a more front-and-center role in the latter half of LOTF.

Also, one other thing I just want to throw out there that I found on Wookieepedia:
"Stackpole intended to explore Fel's story further in the X-wing comics before they were canceled, telling the story of his return to Imperial service. He has indicated that he had the story ready to tell when the series was canceled. Stackpole and Zahn had also worked on story ideas featuring Thrawn and Fel, presumably related to Fel's entry into the Empire of the Hand. To date, no such stories have been produced."
Considering all the interest in a new X-Wing series, and of Jag Fel (and the rest of the Fel family), do you think a series (or trilogy) of Soontir's return to the Empire and/or his life after his Imperial return would be considered at a meeting? I would totally be stoked to see Stackpole return to the Star Wars EU. And I wouldn't mind having an official explanation of how many Fel children there really are. :^O

Darth Minious wrote: As a fan of the original Marvel run of comics, I was thrilled by the return of Lumiya. Have any of the writers of the original comic series (Jo Duffy, Archie Goodwin, David Michelinie) ever expressed an interest in writing a new SW novel?

That was a real loss for the SW community as he was a man that was truly passionate about Star Wars AND a great writer who was able to capture the spirit of the Classic Trilogy and its characters in a way that few have been able to. Peet Janes wrote a really nice tribute to Archie Goodwin in +Insider +#38 which I had the privilege of assisting with.
As regards Jo Duffy, I don't think anyone was more thrilled to see Lumiya return than she was, as she was her creator (though she gives co-credits to Michelinie for coming up with Shira). Jo is still around and working, and has definitely expressed interest in returning to the world of SW.

Sue,
Is there time to catch a typo in Revelations? (or perhaps it's already been caught and corrected?)
Second last paragraph in the "packing" scene. The word "lost" is spelled "losr"

There are many for whom the SW flame continues to burn bright and I'd like to see them continue on: Jude Watson, Karen Traviss, Matt Stover, Aaron Allston, Troy Denning, James Luceno, Ryder Windham, Drew Karpyshyn, Dan Wallace, Abel Pena.
Couldn't have picked a better list myself.
