Whie's role was written with full knowledge of the fate of his character in Ep3. Was that G-level fate, or did you guys plan that behind the scenes with Stover and Stewart?

Tasty (or Sue), has anything been established in the canon as to the fate of Tallisibeth Enwandung Esterhazy (Scout) from Order 66 onwards?

Nothing has been established. In writing the book, we did not want to have the character's fate preordained and chose not to use a previous-established character which is why we didn't use Bene from Ep3. Whie's role was written with full knowledge of the fate of his character in Ep3.

I assume, being in her early teens, that she was one of those slaughtered in the Temple raid, but has anything been said canon-wise?

Sue, I have to tell you that I really liked the Joiner King novel. After reading both LOE and ROTS novels, I kinda thought that this book would be a tough act to follow. But, alas, I was provien wrong. Finally we see the force being used a heck of a lot more and in diverse ways, and Luke came out like a champ. Another thing that I liked, was that laser color descriptions were used. I know that its no big deal, but in the comic books, movies, cartoons, and video games you see the colors. In previous Star Wars books, there is little or no reference to laser color and most of the time you have to think for luck of a better term, what color was a certain beam or bolt. Imo, it just makes for a better descriptive reading. You can get a sense as to what is transpiring out in a space or ground battle. I hope the next two books and beyond keeps this up.

Sue (or anyone), (in avoidance of spoilers) if we were to assume that Jacen would have a lightsaber in any of the books after The Unifying Force, would we assume that Jacen retrieved his lightsaber, or built a new one?

Well, 8 years is correct if the 35 ABY date is correct (and I assume it is).
The NJO probably doesn't last EXACTLY 4 years. If my calculations are correct, it starts at the end of year 25 and ends at the beginning of year 30.

*At one point, Jacen refers to the Myrkr mission as eight years earlier, rather than 8, which would put the story at 35 ASW4*

It was in the prologue, and Jacen was referring to Anakin's death being eight years earlier. "'No. Anakin died in the war.' It had been eight years, and Jacen could finally speak those words...(p. 6)"

Everywhere else in the book, starting with Jaina on page 74, refered to Anakin's death being seven years earlier. "Even that gentle reminder of her brother's death- even seven years later- brought a pained hollow to Jaina's chest."

I'm guessing Jacen's reference was just a mistake...

Not necessarily, remember, Ben was already 4 galactic standard months old in SBS, almost half a year old So he could very easily have recently turned 8 while still being seven years after the Mission to Myrkr, or more precisely 7-1/2 years.

Addendum to previous post:

Then again, we also have other internal issues. At one point, Jacen refers to the Myrkr mission as eight years earlier, rather than 8, which would put the story at 35 ASW4, but then we later are told by Formbi that Ben should be 7, not 8, which would put the story in 33 ASW4...

Speaking of "The Joiner King" errors . . . Not so much an error in the book itself, but in the timeline in the front.

When does the book actually take place? The timeline in the front of the book marks it at 35 years after ANH, but that doesn't square with the internal references, all of which point to 34 years after ANH.

For instance, the book places the Myrkr mission (27 ASW4) as seven years earlier, Ben being eight years old (born 26 ASW4), and the war ending five years earlier (29 ASW4).

27 + 7 = 34
26 + 8 = 34
29 + 5 = 34

I think this goes back to the erroneous dating of the NJO on that timeline. It still says that the NJO runs from 25 - 30 ASW4, when it actually runs through the beginning of 29 ASW4, never entering into 30 ASW4 at all.

So, are we to believe the internal references that The Joiner King is 34 ASW4, or are we to dismiss those and believe the inner-cover timeline (which has been wrong before)?

Sue can we expect an excerpt from the upcoming LOTF:Betrayal in The Swarm War since it will lead into Legacy?

As it's planned now, SWARM WAR will have a TRIPLE ZERO excerpt. The BETRAYAL excerpt hasn't been placed yet. Stay tuned.

Tastey, Sue, and Mr. Denning, over in the Joiner King thread, i mentioned an error I found in the book on page 252, is there any way that it can be corrected in future printings or a note made in a forward in the next book?

Thanks for the catch! Del Rey will correct it in future printings.
