Darth NTM:
But of course! This is no time for that LFL chip to break down, Abel!
I almost beat the chip... it nearly overloaded with this project. We'll see if the Grievous Endnotes does the trick.
Ah, a fellow Zannah and JvS fan! I too loved that graphic novel - more so than the TotJ ones. Yet Macan's work is so frequently bashed at TFN.
I know that story wasn't everyone's cup of tea, and some of the reasons I've heard (such as having the main players of the New Sith Wars in the background rather than as the focus) are valid. But the story of the three cousin protagonists is complex and unpredictable.
If Matt Stover is the literary spearhead of the Star Wars novels, Darko Macan executed the same role first in the comics.
The Broox:
Somehow I missed the reference to Rain, could someone point it out?
At the end of Jedi Vs. Sith, Rain reveals that her real name is Zannah, who is referenced in Lord of War.
When Rain becomes Darth Bane's apprentice in JvS, instead of adopting a Sithy name, she merely adds Darth to the real name which she never used. Her decision creates a symbolic bridge between the Sith naming practices of the KOTOR Sith (who merely add Darth to their names) and the New Sith (who actually change their names).
Rogue_Follower:
Necrosis uses Darth Zannah's (a.k.a Rain's) lightsaber. Also, the article mentions that Bane gave her the lightsaber crystal called the "Bane's Heart."
Bane's Heart is actually one of the "loot" items that the NPC Necrosis drops when players defeat the droid. (Among the other items are the Necrosis Nightblade, the Grievance Striker, and a "deed" to General Grievous' old Belbullab-22 starfighter). All these elements make it into the online supplement.
*Excellent little article, Abel. I think that these Insider supplements are great when used in this way, printing material cut from the main article so that we can see it. And plenty of obscure references, to boot. *
Thanks Rogue!
I think these online supplements work really well too. The main Insider article really let me dig into the psychology of Grievous and explain how and why he became this monster. Meanwhile, the StarWars.com companion piece blows the lid off all the tangents and details that it wouldn't have been appropriate to go into in the main article.
Take care,
Abel

That was a great Supplement. Something to go along with the Magazine as a companion piece. Thank you Abel an thank you Joe. Joe your artwork is without flaw!! I'm enjoying every platform.
The Huk War
This seems to be what changed Qymaen jai Sheelal. If it went on for most of his life than it must have been raging for many years. How exactly did it start?
*Ronderu lij Kummar
*many seem to treat her like a myth. Theres no doubt in my mind that she truely did exist. Very interesting how they met. Seems like the force was in play in that circumstance. It's good to know that the force effects those that arent just Jedi an Sith. The question is did she die in battle an buried by Qymaen jai Sheelal in a sacred place, or did she dissappear into the mysteries of the the Icy wastelands Grendaju?

Hey there,
Long-time lurker, infrequest poster here. I just wanted to say--if anyone at LFL is listening--that articles and supplements like this are EXACTLY what keeps me paying my money for Fan Club membership/Hyperspace/whatever it's called now. Seriously, this is exactly the sort of new content I would love to see more and more and more of. Fantastic work, Abel and Joe. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next!

*Confession: I greatly enjoyed Darko Macan's Jedi
Vs. Sith graphic novel. I thought the transformation
of the character Zannah (a.k.a. Rain) from a sweet
young girl into Darth Bane's Sith apprentice was so
masterfully executed, I fell in love with her.*

JvS is not actually TOTJ. Somehow I missed the reference to Rain, could someone point it out?

Maybe they didn't get it...
So props to Macan.

*Woo-hoo!
Thanks *
You're welcome! Be sure to chime in with your thoughts after you read it!
The Dark Moose:
Great article, Mr. Peña. So much interesting stuff, and better yet, it makes me ask more questions about just who this warrior was. He seems nearly tragic - definitely more complex than the brief on-screen samplings would indicate.
Thanks for the kind words, DM!
I think that's a good way to put Grievous' story arc, nearly tragic, and the main article in Insider emphasizes this even more. Grievous' vanity and arrogance is undeniable, so is his racism and ruthlessness. But his intentions are seemingly good; his heart, is arguably in the right place. There's just a distinct lack of reflection and empathy there that is a trademark of evil men and women.
But, can you blame him?
Take care,
Abel

In case anyone is interested, here's my most recent blog about the live chats we have coming up at galacticsenate.com with Abel G. Peña (20 Feb 06) and Karen Traviss (26 Feb 06):
Very cool... thanks for that Suzanne! This will be my first live chat so I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully by then I'll be able to reveal some details of my upcoming projects.
The Infinite Force:
Just got Insider. Phenomenal work!
Thanks, Infinite! Like I said when I first announced my involvement with the project, there was something about Grievous' pre-cyborg design that was very inspiring, and I loved developing a proper back story for him.
Keep us poster on the supplements.
Coming soon! And they're a doozy.
Take care,
Abel

The Grievous Endnotes will document all the little continuity nuances that got snuck into the articles.
