*It's really a shame there aren't more articles like History of the Mandalorians in Insider anymore. *
What is in Insider these days? Am I missing out on anything EU-related.....or original?

Thanks for the nice words, Aaron. Concerning the Ailyn Vel retcon in Young Jedi Knights, Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta themselves planted the seed with the deliberate musing as to "Boba Fett's" gender and species (unknown in fact at that pre-prequel time, of course) in those books. That made the retcon ultimately acceptable in my eyes.
And, yes, I've been a big Terminator fan for years. The comic miniseries Robocop Vs. Terminator is what got me into comics in the first place.
Take care,
Abel

Nice NJOE interview, Abel! A few comments:
1) I think you did a wonderful self-diagnosis of why you're a fan-favorite author, but I think one detail you left out is that not only are you a "fan who made it," but you still interact with the fanbase on a regular basis in a way that most authors don't. In fact, you make your entire process incredibly translucent in a way that very few authors do. And that is greatly, greatly appreciated by fans.
2) I'm so glad you took the time to explain which retcon was the most difficult for you morally--that answer is far more interesting to me than which was the hardest in terms of creativity.
3) Don't think I knew beforehand that you're a Terminator fan! Thumbs up to that!

Vitas Varnas:
Abel, are there any expanded universe characters who'd you like to see return with there being many already out there?
I think LFL and the EU writers are doing a good job of returning to classic characters. For a long time, I wanted to see Zak and Tash Arranda, from the Galaxy of Fear books, back in action, and then they appeared in Adrick Tolliver's fun story, "Death in the Slave Pits of Lorrd."
I've also mentioned wanting to know what happened to Domina Tagge. Personally, I'd like to revisit "Vongerella."
Jedi Kasra:
Is this image from the KotOR campaign guide supposed to be one of Shasa, from the KotOR game?
Seems like a pretty clear-cut case.
IllogicalRogue2:
Awesome Abel!
Thanks for reading!
Take care,
Abel

Howdy folks,
For those interested, the New Jedi Order Encyclopedia website just posted an interview with yours truly. Mature ideas and immature language ahoy: NJOE Interviews Abel G Peña..
Trak Nar:
Anywho... There was something I wanted to ask, but I forget what it was. In a week or so, I'll remember it at an inappropriate time.
Now's as inappropriate as any.

- Either she didn't try to steal the stone until long
after she started plaguing them....
*
Okay, I'm stumped. That does seem to make Logray rather elderly. Unless she was simply plaguing them all along out of sheer meanness of spirit, and somewhere along the line found out about it. That doesn't make much sense, though.
- I'll accept that- however, earlier in the same
episode, Chief Chirpa recounts the legend of Morag
and the Sunstar-Shadowstone, and mentions that when
Morag attacked the village to steal the stone, Logray
was the only Ewok who was brave enough to stand up to
her.*
How about this: Logray was the only Ewok in Chirpa's lifetime brave enough to stand up to her? Seems odd that they would remember only the plague and not the heroes who fended her off, but that's the best I can do to rectify this.
Though, frankly, considering we are talking about the same series that featured a tentacle-eyed Muppet named Larry.

To have Logray state that someone has plagued them
for two hundred snows (presumably years) does not
mean that he was personally there for all two
hundred of them. Don't you think that word would get
around if a pest had hung around for that long?
(Incidentally, though, if I recall correctly, the
e narrator for Caravan of Courage +did +say that
Logray was as old as the trees....)
I'll accept that- however, earlier in the same episode, Chief Chirpa recounts the legend of Morag and the Sunstar-Shadowstone, and mentions that when Morag attacked the village to steal the stone, Logray was the only Ewok who was brave enough to stand up to her.
Either she didn't try to steal the stone until long after she started plaguing them- which wouldn't make much sense given it was apparently her whole reason for plaguing them in the FIRST place- or Logray was in fact there from the beginning of those 200 snows.
Still confusing, but I guess a lot of the old stuff IS.

Yeah, their dialogue seemed very similar to SotE. It is a very likely conclusion to why there was such a drastic personality discrepancy.
In the Scum and Villainy sourcebook, that retcon was also noted and slightly elaborated on as that ailing health was one of the reasons Zuckuss was put into detention. In terms of final fate and in regards to Bossk's retirement and Dengar's settled-down lifestyle, poor Zuckuss got the shaft.
Anywho... There was something I wanted to ask, but I forget what it was. In a week or so, I'll remember it at an inappropriate time.

Good point.
Supporter of Emperor Jag:
Are we supposed to assume Ta'a Chume is dead, or simply lobotomized and comatose (much as, in real life, Ariel Sharon is still alive despite being effectively dead for over three years now)?
I suppose we may assume whatever we want for now. Personally, I like the comatose option. She's a nasty lady.
RE: Zuckuss ... Like I said, the retcon from the first edition of the Essential Guide to Alien Species was dramatic but perhaps necessary. I think it was a creative fix and ultimately warranted. YMMV.
Note that Zuckuss' (and Bossk's) portrayal from the first two Bounty Hunter Wars seems like a direct extrapolation from the more slapstick-like portrayal of the ESB bounty hunters in the Shadows of the Empire comics adaptation. I'd wager that K.W. Jeter had ready access to this book but not the Tales of the Bounty Hunters anthology before beginning his trilogy.

That's what I originally summed it up as also, as it differs in other sources. For example, in Underworld: The Yavin Vassilika, Zuckuss's personality (dialogue-wise) is a bit closer to the one established in TotBH, in which he is proper and doesn't use so much slang. However, he still refers to himself in the first person. It's like a combination of the two personalities.
Discrepancies aside, I'm just wondering how he ended up in the psych ward and branded as being dangerous to himself and others. Such a shame, as he seemed like a nice guy. Aside from the bounty hunting.

I just figured that was different authors handling the character differently as they translated his speech to Basic. lol

He went from being a proper findsmen who spoke in third person to referring to himself in the first person and having his dialogue be more akin to some teenager. He used more slang, said "Um..." quite a bit, questioned himself and others, was overly hesitant, and overall acted differently than what had been established in TotBH.
That drastic change in personality and even mannerisms was retconned in the EGtAS as Zuckuss being schizophrenic with dissociative identity disorder.
