But there is just so much more than Jedi in the SW Universe to explore, but all of that is dumped into the laps of authors.

It's always "Jedi this" and "Jedi that".

While a book or short series here or there might be an exception, I doubt that will ever change. The story of Star Wars is the story Jedi.

It would be wonderful. I do still enjoy the movies, as they have material for both age groups, but I just want to see a shift in focus. It's always "Jedi this" and "Jedi that".

I think it would be wise for Georgie to focus more on his adult readers and audience.

To be fair, Star Wars has always been aimed at a younger audience. However, I would not object to a story/product line geared towards adult fans.

I think it would be wise for Georgie to focus more on his adult readers and audience. I really doubt that the little kiddies that watch the show really care if Mandalore was a nuclear wasteland, but when a whole book series is abruptly cancelled because they think the children do care, I get angry.

I was commenting on the supposed stealth involved in this move. I thought it rather heavy-handed and obvious, personally, rather than something sneaking its way slowly in.

I always thought Star Wars was a bit schizophrenic in that regard, especially after watching The Clone Wars Season 2 this Christmas; its almost like Lucas can't quite decide what demographic he's aiming at - it seems to veer between stuff for quite young kids, like the comedy Battle Droids, to more adult scenarios like the relatively graphic head shot executions and dismemberment.

When you look at the complete array of Star Wars media as a whole, there's an even greater quantity of mood whiplash between media - can you imagine a kid watching a Jar Jar TCW episode, and then reading a Darth Bane novel?

That wasn't spelled wrong, nor am I the kind of guy who would point it out if it were. So you fail.

Star Wars is stealthily edging its way towards the children's section, leaving it's older group to suffer.

Technically canon hasn't changed. So far Traviss' novels haven't been declared non-canon. I don't actually think this would be that hard to fix. There's some speculation for this, I believe there's a "Mandalorians in the Clone Wars" thread in the television section that you might find interesting.

Also, you might find the X-Wing series interesting if you like stories about the "grunt" soldiers.

And welcome!

For those of you who have ever read the Republic Commando novels, along with the single Imperial Commando book, many of you understand what I am speaking of. Because of the introduction of the Mandalorians into the animated series "The Clone Wars", the Imperial Commando novels were cut, as they clashed with the new canon towards Mandos. Personally, I feel that this is unfair towards the adult/ young adult audience of Star Wars. It seems that more and more, Star Wars is stealthily edging its way towards the children's section, leaving it's older group to suffer. From a business point of view, I can completely understand them. There's much more money to be made selling 8 inch figurines to children who simply love the show. But I see it as unfair that they decide to take away from those like me, who could care less for the show and more for the novels and books. I get tired of the seemingly endless tales of how Jedi saved the world singlehandedly, blah blah blah. It was nice to pull away from that and get a look from a soldier's point of view; to see the battles from a truely mortal pair of eyes. It's for this reason that I enjoyed the Republic and Imperial Commando novels. Opinions?

Upon seeing TCW one of my friends started joking that Ventress failed every time, and Dooku said he would tolerate failure no more every time, yet he never did anything. So this Sith outcast thing needed to happen, and I'm glad they did it.

I think it's about time she fights back. How long can she take crap from the Sith? She's been completely loyal and very effective during the Clone Wars yet Sidious and Dooku have always treated her like garbage. It's not believable for any being (especially one as angry as Ventress) to take that much abuse for that long, even a dog would have fought back by now.

Just saw the different previews for the new episode of TCW. It can definitely be the key to Obsession.

If, in this fight, Anakin wound Ventress, and if they never saw her again in TCW, it can explained the "I tell you I killed her" thing.

But MO's right. It's only had 1300+ posts so far.

Speaking of. Lets discuss the books covers vs prices here

I saw MO talking about the Paperbacks- I too would rather get PB.

My thing is this - Why not release it in all formats?

Unless one is trying to milk OCD fans such as myself who have tried to wait the year but can't do it.

I've started to buy the HCs on Kindle instead. Cause I WILL buy it in paperback still. So getting it for About $7-8 is a lot cheaper then $27-15 that I would normally pay. I would later sell them on ebay to re cycle my SW fund. But that's a pain and you always let the books go for so little.

I'd rather the books came out paperback personally, but again think why can't they release it in all formats- Audio, Kindle/ nook/etc, Hardcover, Paperback?

I mean they do it with the games all the time. PS3 owners didn't have to wait a year to see their version of the game so Xbox 360 owners could get the most sales of the game first.

I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. As it sits it looks as though it's set up to take advantage of those fans who can't/ won't wait, not just being offered to those who would prefer the hardcover. To me the simple solution would be to offer it in both Hard and soft covers.

Besides the ebook (kindle/ nook/ etc.) having to wait / not know if the book will come out. I don't see how anyone could complain about the books (price and size) as we've seen with books like Omen, and Red Harvest.

(And again I don't mind the size, for me it's the higher prices I try to avoid as often as I can. I'm too devoted to the story to wait, I hate being spoiled and the times I've tried to wait the year I just couldn't do it. I could never do a year without SW.) :^0

-also my reaction to the who "is it coming out for kindle/ nook/ etc." I really wish those companies would do a better job of announcing "when / if they plan on" picking up a book, or what their criteria is. I would have waited to get Red Harvest if I knew it was going to be on Kindle within a certain time. But I went with my hunch and ran to the Book store and got my hardcover. I didn't pay for it. my Christmas gift did. But still had it been a paperback version or a kindle I'd have been able to buy 2 SW books instead of one hardcover.

And there is that too- as a Podcast host, we could purchase more Paperback books to give away as prizes then we ever could hardcovers. And Nathan P. Butler pointed out we're getting like 2 paperbacks next year and the rest are all hardcovers. Choices there if one were to utilize books only would be to get a hardcover or two, or to wait for books like RipTide and get more for the money and make more fans happy, and have more sales with the same dollar.

Thing is, not all fans want the same thing. So it's hard to please everyone. I get that. I just think if the option to get either on release date was offered, you'd please the most fans at one time. :^0

Wow, kinda let this thread get away from me. We used to lock threads as the neared the 10K mark since loading a thread of that size would greatly slow the boards down. We may not have to do that anymore since they changed the board software. Is this thread loading slowly for people? I am not seeing any difference but if there are a couple affirmatives IR2 can go ahead and start another and I will lock this one up.
