ALSO - In hopes of preventing someone from asking the
incredibly stupid question -
Fate of the Jedi VII is not coming out before Vortex,
no matter what Amazon UK says. They are still using
some outdated infomation.
:^O
Cause you KNOW someone was going to ask

This is absolutely normal. Nobody will look at
unsolicited ideas because it means, if they do
something s...........................you sign a
contract saying it is - it just means you can't
pursue it without their permission.
I'm confused, people were suggesting an Atlas for years, and now we have one, how is this any different? They suggested an Essential Guide to Politics. So would it have been different had he just posted it here instead? I mean that was the point of the link IMO- " We need an Essential Guide to SW Politics" and the suggestion was on the same level as those for an Atlas.
To me the only difference is when it's an employee who brings it to the right person it gets done. This guy was trying to get someone to champion the idea like they did with the Atlas. Heck Fans were even PICKED to help with that one.

Are you prohibited from taking inspiration from fan ideas? It is not like the creators own any part of it that might muddy the legal waters, is it?
This is absolutely normal. Nobody will look at unsolicited ideas because it means, if they do something similar in the future, you could potentially turn round an sue them for using your idea and not paying you. That it pertains to Star Wars doesn't make the idea theirs, until you sign a contract saying it is - it just means you can't pursue it without their permission.

*Jeez...gotta say, I didn't think my adult comment would get that much backlash (no pun intended). I was only (okay, mostly) joking... *
:^O
It's all good. (Just not a popular idea ) There are some artists though who have stuff out there I'm sure

This sounds odd...

Thought that was the big caveat about fanstuff: LucasFilm owns everything with a SW logo -official or not.

*I just received advance copies of BACKLASH! And page proofs for ALLIES!
*
Apart from yourself, who else receives advance copies? And is there anyway for the fans to receive advance copies(apart from special circumstances)?
What do you mean by 'page proofs'?

Hey Sue here's a link for a breakdown of how an Essential guide to politics could work.
Just so you know, I won't be looking at this -- it's falls under the "unsolicited" title -- stuff we can't look at.

Remember when Sean Williams held that auction on ebay, where the winner got to have a character in his next book named after them (Star-Wars-ified), and the proceeds went to Australian brush fire victims? Is that his current book, TOR: Fatal Alliance?
Yes, that's the one.

Is there a blog of yours or a list of an updated official release schedule?
Not yet. I've been trying to get some of the 2011 non-fiction titles nailed down in order to include them -- but I may have to work something up without them..... Hopefully next week.

Hypothetically, it could be the Force Unleashed II novelization, which is also slated to come out this year.
But it probably depends on which book he was writing when the contest came about.

I was looking back at some old posts and something occurred to me, so I wanted to ask:
Remember when Sean Williams held that auction on ebay, where the winner got to have a character in his next book named after them (Star-Wars-ified), and the proceeds went to Australian brush fire victims? Is that his current book, TOR: Fatal Alliance? Or has that particular book not appeared on our scanners yet.
Thank you!
