That info did not originate from the novel, so yes, we still consider it canon.
Where did it originate from, then? As far as I was aware, the press release for the novel was when that info was at least first released to the public.

Tasty, can you please read pages 86-88 of the Event Timeline and Character Age thread and answer the issues addressed there over in that thread? It has alot to do with continuity.
I do believe that is what Wampa Jedi is referring to. (correct me if I am wrong in that regard WJ.)

With the cancellation of the Plagueis novel, is it still canon that Plagueis is a Muun?
That info did not originate from the novel, so yes, we still consider it canon.

Leland,
In ANH, an imperial officer calls for a scanning crew aboard the Millennium Falcon. The ANH expansion on the CCG identifies him as "Captain Khurgee".
And in ROTS, while in the Senate chambers, Palpatine remarks to a clone trooper: "Tell Captain Kagi to prepare my shuttle for immediate takeoff."
I've checked the ROTS illustrated screenplay and the CCG, and these are the correct spellings. So what I'm wondering is, due to similarities in their names, could these two characters have been intended to be the same person?

Well, I was wanting to see if my interpretation was correct. First of all, does this "film only" continuity mean there exists a "parallel universe", so to speak, where the only events we know of are what is seen in the films? Does this have anything to do with what George Lucas has referred to a few times about "parallel universes" and are these two continuities the "two universes" he was talking about in the 2005 Starlog quote? And how does the part of the quote about things remaining "elastic" until being "committed" to film or other "official sources" jive with the two-continuity thing? Am I right in interpreting this such that if it's committed to film it is no longer up-in-the-air in both continuities, but if it's in a non-film source then it's still up in the air in the film-only sources?

I have a question about one of those stupid little details that means little to anyone, but those who DO care are arguing quite vociferously.
The reason I've not stated the question is because I don't want to drag you into something that you don't want to be in. It's not about numbers and not about ships and such, so don't panic.
If you would rather I ask off-line or not at all, that's fine, or you want me to ask here, I'll be glad to do so. I just don't want to cause anyone any grief.

You said "It remains elastic until it gets committed to film or another official source." But that would seem to freeze it only in continuity (2) above, not (1), for the case that it is not committed in film -- ie. unless a film is made, it's still "unknown" there (in 1). Is this right?
I'd appreaciate any responses to these questions.

I'm curious about these statements you've made about continuity earlier:
"The only relevant official continuities are the current versions of the films alone, and the combined current version of the films along with whatever else we've got in the Holocron.
Am I right in my interpretation of this that:
1. a continuity exists in which only the films exist, and nothing else is part of it, and
2. a continuity exists in which the films exist along with the EU materials and other "canon" items (C/S levels) in the Holocron.
Also, could these be the "two universes" George Lucas referred to in Starlog Magazine in 2005? And, does the existence of the "G/C/S" database somehow imply that only one continuity exists, as some particularly rabid fans have insisted? If not, what it it's relationship to the above continuities?
