I have a question about the time frame of Blood Oath:

Jaina, I'll get back to you tomorrow on this one.... I've run out of time for today.

Note that I made an edit on the list on the blog--today we all decided that the title OMEN fits FoTJ #2 much better than ENIGMA, so we changed it. This probably won't be the first change in the line-up of all the books -- you'll get to witness the evolution as it happens.

Is the plot going to have any input from Tom Veitch and KJA, or would that be up to Irvine whether he wants to consult them? Probably not, but yeah, it would be up to Irvine.

Was it pitched to Irvine as a KOTOR story, or just generally an ancient Republic story, or did he get to pick the plot altogether?

We rarely pitch a story to an author -- Mr. Irvine was intrigued by the era so we sent him the comics (and the Essential Chronology, etc) and suggested he look at Nomi, knowing folks had asked for a novel around her, and he came up with the story.

I have a question about the time frame of Blood Oath:

I've read multiple sources saying that it takes place around the start of Fate of the Jedi, but you also mentioned on your blog that it takes place after his mishap during the battle in Invincible. Can you clarify whether we're talking about immediately after Invincible (prior to the two-year time skip of Millennium Falcon and Outcast), or closer to MF and FotJ (two years after the mishap)?

In case you haven't guessed from the questions, I'm really excited to see the old-school TOTJ saga resumed/continued so kudos on the choice....

*So, whatever happened to that Untitled SW Game Novel that was listed in the RH catalog some time back (but has since disappeared)? *

The game tie-in novels always get moved around a lot because we're never 100% sure when the game will come out. It'll be added back in once we have something concrete going on.

Valin:
Yes, it's too early for a title to the Nomi book, but I'm thinking it will follow the style of the Bane books, A Novel of the Old Republic.

We haven't started talking about it yet, though...

Sue, it's probably too early for this, but have you guys thought about the series titling for the Nomi book?

Is it chance of calling it Tales of the Jedi: XYZ or is that name completely owned by Dark Horse?

Or will it inevitably have the Knights of the Old Republic label since that's more well-known these days?

Or even Bane-style +XYZ: A Novel of the Old Republic+?

*"trade paperback," does that mean the 6x9"
hardcover size used for, say, the Conan novels and
SW
omnibuses, or are you using that term
interchangably
with "paperback"? *

That's right. They're paperback, but the size is
bigger, like the Dark Lord Trilogy.

Sweeeet! More, please!!!!

I rather hope not, they're harder to fit on the shelf, and look to much like omnibuses, and not enough like novels. Just my opinion though.

Sue If Fate of the Jedi is going to start in 2009 and end in 2011. Is there plans for another 9-book series perhaps set after Fate of the Jedi that will go from 2011 to 2013 the end of the contract?

OK for God's sake son, give it a rest. You've just been given ELEVEN post-LOTF books ... take a breath and appreciate it briefly before you start beating the drum again.

Hey sue,

has there been any talks of bringing timothy zahn back? maybe to do just one book or a new trilogy? also, are there are any additional books beyond MF and Shadows of Mindor for Stover and Luceno to write? maybe you could get those three to work on a 9 book series!?!?! :-)

I hope you are well and rested after your vacation!

Does this mean that the paperback re-print of the movie novelization by KT will also be in Trade size?

I don't know yet -- that will probably be decided when we get closer to the print date.

And secondly, are there going to be normal sized re-prints eventually?

Do you mean are there going to be mass market sized reprints of the trade paperbacks? No -- these are a one-shot deal.

Sue, you list on your blog that No Prisoners and Wild Space are both going to be released in Trade Paperback size. Does this mean that the paperback re-print of the movie novelization by KT will also be in Trade size?

And secondly, are there going to be normal sized re-prints eventually? (I like all my books to be the same size):D

Also great work on the new contact and books. Thanks for keeping us so well informed.

There are plans for the rest of the contracted books but we haven't decided, finally, what to do with them yet. We're still discussing options.

*Care to tell me what is up with the Sunrider name to make it such a touchy legal issue? *

I believe it involved a brand of Jeep accessories.

*I was just wondering something about the promised Nomi Sunrider novel. I was under the impression that for some legal reason the Sunrider name was off limits for new products (hence it not featuring in KOTOR as was originally considered).
Has something changed to lift this ban, or was the ban just a myth in the first place?*

No, it wasn't a myth, and the issue is still there with using the name "Sunrider." However, we can use it in the body of text where it can be argued that there would be no confusion -- we can't use her name in the title, and if we ever do an action figure, we'd have to drop "Sunrider."
So we just have to be careful.
